Codex Edition is a total overhaul of Dawn of War II: Retribution that delivers a more immersive, fluff-accurate, and realistic experience, while also introducing a massive amount of new units, gameplay elements, customization options, and overall content that includes new factions and base building. While it may not be the most balanced mod out there, and is not intended for competitive gameplay, it does provide a unique and spectacular 40k experience that resonates with the original version of Codex Edition created by Gabriel Gorgutz. Creating equilibrium between lore accuracy and playability is this mod's primary focus, as is the tradition of Codex Edition.

Codex Edition 2.1 is now available for download. This new version is largely aimed at polishing and balancing the new factions that were added in 2.0, while also further improving the existing factions' balance and fixing some of their own bugs. Among the many fixes and changes in Codex Edition 2.1 are significant improvements to the AI, the UI made to be more readable, and popular maps from the Elite mod being included alongside some new and fresh ones as well. The full changelog is available in the description of the Codex Edition 2.1's download page, as well as in the Codex Edition 2.1 archive itself.

Since this update now solidifies a much more bug-free and stable experience compared to previous versions, we are slowly shifting gears towards the next big content update that will likely become version 3.0; a version that may take a few months to complete and test. That said, a smaller 2.2 patch is still a possibility if there are major issues that are found and/or solved within that time period.

Speaking of 3.0, the major plans for the next update include things such as a revamped and more responsive combat system for knight-superheavies, new units, one or two new factions, and certain base-building features (not to the same level as the first Dawn of War series, but enough to entice fans of base-building); obviously accompanied by more fixes and balancing.

We are still looking into solving some quirks regarding 8-player FFA and some other known issues, though they are proving to be harder than expected. It is likely that a potential 2.2 version will be the one to solve these problems before 3.0 releases.

Not much else to say, this is a short article, though the update is most certainly a big one in terms of fixes and changes, so we hope you enjoy the smoother and more enjoyable experience brought to you by Codex Edition 2.1!
