Could you possibly make the guitar angle down a little more? 90 degrees seems a lil extreme, and maybe add camera shake to the anims? and ive noticed that your animation doesnt freeze you in place, so you can hear the music playing from where you stood or sat not where you're actually playing.

When you move music stays in the place that was started, and like someone up said a little change to the angle of the guitar and its positioning on the screen and it would be really good, now its a bit too high so the arm looks really goofy and over the head.

For some reason the instruments do that by default, im hoping to learn how to fix that this weekend. I agree about the animations, i want to animate some haptics for the guitar as well. In the mean time feel free to modify the parameters in the hud animation ltx to get it to your ideal height.

you can actually get the length of the sound you play and then adjust your restore time event accordingly instead of hardcoded 30 secs
snd = sound_object(...) etc.
local length = snd:length()/1000
divide by 1000 cuz it gets the time in miliseconds by default
then you just use this 'length' var in your time event call

you're very welcome, modders from different 'branches' (scripting/arts) should support each other. firstly, mind the moment when you declare it or reference it, your sound_object should be already existing. not sure if I should explain it, but just in case - there's difference in stuff like snd.length() [incorrect in this case] and snd:length(). mind the syntax as well
when in doubt, check lua_help.script (might be confusing but it gives you an idea of what's possible for a specific object and what's not), _g.script and axr_main.script for some useful explanations in the comments of these two scripts
I dunno, maybe you know the scripting stuff better than me, but just in case. can't fit everything into one comment... xray scripting has a lot of nuances

Thanks, I actually started trying to write myself a bit of documentation this weekend by combing through the scripts cause it is really a needle in a hay stack sometimes.
I think i will double check the syntax. do you know if there is a way to send the the value of a variable to another string? Like, say I wanted to print the value for length.

given that your length var already exists, there are a few ways
printf(var) - outputs the value to the console
actor_menu.set_msg(1,var,X) - shows the text in the bottom of the screen for X seconds
news_manager.send_tip(db.actor, var, nil, "ui\\ui_icon_news_trx_dolg", 6000) - lots of optional args but what matters is that it will print your stuff as a PDA message (var is your value here)

Okay, that's good to know, I thought it was something like that I just wasn't sure how different X-ray would be. Also, the \1000 was what was throwing me off in the script and I updated it so that the animation plays the length of the song. I didn't realize that the milliseconds would be converted to seconds when i apply the length variable, makes complete sense.

with the latest update, the freezing in place of the character works during playing but doesnt unfreeze after you stop playing.

nice it does seem to be fixed, i tested it a few times so looks good. also theres a part of the animation where the character hits the strings upwards and that motion gets cut off very abruptly and looks unnatural.

think it would be fun to have a lengthier smoking cigarette animation for when youre chilling by the fire, maybe you right click on the cigarette and there is an option called "enjoy cigarette" or something. just an idea i thought i would share :)

I think you might be the onlyone who shares my enjoyment of the long cigarette animations, Do you use the default FDDA cig anim? Its pretty long all together, but it would be cool to have options lol

Version 0.2 is better, I don't know if you can do it, but could you change the movements of the right hand somehow? I'm not saying that it should be perfect, but still, the right hand is slow, and he moves it up and down a lot. I wish it was at least a little bit in rhythm with the song.

Я люблю играть на гитаре, у меня это не очень хорошо получается, но я могу играть достаточно, чтобы написать несколько песен и быть немного творческим человеком. Моя семья тоже увлекла меня музыкой!
