Full versions of the Action Half-Life mod & Deleted Scenes addon, but without needing to use the long-broken installers.
Description
Action Half-Life (AHL) releases use executables to install the mod to Steam. While this wouldn't have been an issue in the past, Steam uses a different system these days to handle game installs, causing a messy install that needs to be manually fixed. Alongside this, new versions of Windows may break these old installers; so for those reasons, I chose to preserve the mod in this package.
I installed and extracted Action Half-Life inside a Virtual Machine, and copied the results to this zip file; outside of excluding skins for an ancient version of Steam, these are unmodified post-install.
While the mod is dead in playercount these days (minus organised games), you can still create offline bot matches using the "Create Server" option in the main menu. Before you do that, though, I recommend typing "sv_lan 1" (no quotes) in the console first, so your game won't show up in the server list in the odd chance someone is browsing it. Yes, the master server still works!
Install instructions
- Inside the zip file, open the "Base Game" folder.
- Extract the "action" folder to "steamapps\common\Half-Life".
- Inside the zip file, open the "Directors Cut Release Candidate 2" folder.
- Extract the "action" Extract the "action" folder to "steamapps\common\Half-Life", and overwrite any files when prompted.
- Restart Steam.
To launch the game, you may do it from your Steam Library. It's name is different, depending on if you installed the Director's Cut or not:
- Base Game - Action Half-Life
- Director's Cut - AHL: Directors Cut
If the Steam Library name bothers you, you can change it by editing "steamapps\common\Half-Life\action\liblist.gam" and renaming the "game" field.
nice repackage

Wtf is it with this game?!
Why is this the only Half-Life mod that either fails to install or fails to run?!
Such a damn shame...
if you follow the instructions and don't see it in your steam library just restart steam and it will appear
