This mod brings lots of improvements on gameplay, visual and sound design, visual effects, and massive changes of all game aspects in general over the original Brutal Doom. It also adds new unique stuffs and shows the vision of the game by team Blackmore1014, Iddqd_Idkfa_Idclip, Doomsmile, Bifurcator, Vsonnier.
"Brutal Doom: Black Edition" is a dark, serious, realistic and meaningful vision of the original Brutal Doom.
The mod follows the serious, evil and creepy atmosphere of original Doom franchise: "Black Edition" combines large battles and speed of classic Doom with a meaningful realism, the dark and atmospheric aesthetic of Doom 3 and the dynamics of modern stuffs found in Doom 2016.
The mod also focuses on diversity of game, but take care of preserving the original style and atmosphere of the original Doom I/II.
"Black Edition" offers plenty of skill levels and gameplay modifications (open FATUM menu) that would fit cowards and heroes alike. On higher difficulties though, it turns to a not forgiving hardcore mod where the Doomguy is always on the verge of succumbing which should be a challenge for the most skilled players.
If you are either bothered by regular Brutal Doom, or want both modern and meaningful realism, a diverse and dark atmospheric vision of the game with new unique stuffs, experience it with "Brutal Doom: Black Edition".

1) ESC > Vivisection > Customize Keyboard. Here bind button for "Burst Fire", "Flashlight" and "Combat melee attack (Quick Punch)".
2) Main Menu > Vivisection > Display Options > Dynamic Light Options > Dynamic Lights (Software | Hardware): On | Shadow map Quality: [value] | Shadow filter: PCF or other.
This setting required for shadows from flashlight.
3) ESC > Fatum > Here you can enable unique game modes.
Recommended to enable option "ESC > Vivisection > Display Options > Hardware Rendering Options > Sector Light Mode > Dark". It's important for atmosphere and suspense in mod.
Also if you want to play with Doom 3 experience: "Main Menu > Black Tractate > Black Edition options > Sector Brightness Options > Mode: Subtract | Setting: Dismal.". Here you can configure value of darkness in the game.

== How install ==
1) Download mod.
2) Download latest GZDoom version - Zdoom.org
3) Download or buy four Doom wads (doom.wad, doomu.wad, doom2.wad, tnt.wad, plutonia.wad).
4) Create new folder.
5) Put mod file "BDBE_v3.38.pk3" in folder.
6) Unzip all files GZDoom in folder.
7) Put four Doom wads in folder.
8) Select mod file "BDBE_v3.38.pk3" and move over "gzdoom.exe".
8b) You can create shortcut for fast launch and load mod and addons after gzdoom.exe.

In "Target" you must specify the path to folder. After gzdoom.exe you must add necessary megawad, mod and addons.

Question. Why is it whenever I get the berserk pack, I'm stuck in fists and cannot switch weapons. This makes encounters frustrating because I sometimes need to use my guns to get through tough situations. How do I fix this?
You're not using the latest GZDOOM
You can't switch weapons during berserker effect. Your power is increased to the maximum and you kill almost any enemy (alt fire - you destroy crowds of enemies). Also in berserk effect you restore health (glory kills). If you need shoot in someone in air - press button "melee combat attack" (not kick) - fast pistol fire.
Sadly if you have berserker, fighting against a small group of cacodemos, makes an almost imposible to beat it. Now when I get the berserker pack, never change to fists, I only use kicks and guns if I know that cacos will come. SpartanMike1337 said, "frustrating", I said more challenge. Project Brutality is for kids, I love Black Edition because the challenge. Keep up the good work.
Well, if I see cacodemons i try hide from them, to make them fly closer to me. Most often it helps. Also when you have berserker effect - you can use pistol fast shot - press separate button "melee attack". Useful against imps on ceilings.

you need GZDOOM along with the original .wad files for any doom game. put the .wads in the GZDOOM dir along with the .pk3 from the mod and i would also recommend getting ZDL and putting it in a sepeart folder within the GZDOOM dir. run ZDL select general settings. under "source ports" hit the plus icon and navigate to where you installed GZdoom and select gzdoom.exe to add it. do the same thing under iwads to add the doom.wads. then under launch config select gzoom under source port and the iwad of your choice. finaly under external files. hit the plus icon and add the mod and then launch the game.. you can add multiple mods using this program.

Judging by what is says, I think you loaded it with Brutal Doom, which you're not supposed to do, so don't load it with Brutal Doom
