Hello, everyone! It’s been quite a long time since our last piece of news for Western community, but we haven't wasted any time and made some new features we'd like to share.
The first thing we'd like to introduce is dynamic seasons change. It would be tied to ingame time, but you also (probably) will be able to be set your preferred constant value.
The second one shows winter views at various locations: a snow-covered Pripyat Outskirts, Swamps, Truck Cemetery and a winter night in Limansk. The visual and sound components have been supplemented with new gasmask effects and sounds of footsteps in the snow.
The feature so many people asked for. Fully implemented magazine and load bearing vest systems. The number of pouches depends on the outfit and you'll be able to increase it through the upgrades.
Weapon's visual now depends on its overall condition. Because of the way it was done, it works ONLY for your held weapon. Also, the jamming system was separated to jamming and misfire. The misfire stops the shooting and breaks automatic bursts, jammed weapon requires an ejection.
Small, but immersive feature — fake grass collision, works only for the player.
And last but not least — shader-based lens scope effect. Not as fancy as real 3D scopes, but no performance hit at all. There also were so many complains about new looting animation because it looked too slow — here you can see the actual mechanics. Also, new animations were added and the whole skin process was removed for non-mutant parts.
If one of the desired gifts for Christmas was the release of the modification "Dead Air 1.0", well.. unfortunately, we will not be able to fulfill it. Yep, we still don't have an exact release date and don't know when we will be able to give you any more good news, so consider that as a little Christmas present from us.

This really is amazing. DA was always my favourite mod, but please add the option to populate the zone with more A-Life beyond what's already available. I always end up getting bored and closing the game after a few hours because all the areas are so empty. I know it's supposed to be desolate and all, but a bit more life and stuff to do to go with these stunning visuals would be awesome because I know there's people like myself who like a more lively zone. I've seen the "Living Zone Non-Stope 24/7/365" addon but that seems crazy excessive.
If anyone could give me a rundown on how to edit/activate more spawns, I'll try and do it myself but there's diddly-squat for information available.
I agree! I get the idea is desolation but when the Zone is void of all life, becomes more a walking simulator. Life 24/7 especially with other STALKERS everywhere is overkill but perhaps a boost in lower class mutants would just keep you on your toes.
Guys, there is one thing that if you implement you'll also be the only one to do so. This is only visible in 3rd person view.. but try to make the character model match the configuration of its gear.. gas mask, suit and backpack.
That would add so much depth.
Would that even be possible with ths engine?

Would it be possible to make the reeds/grass on maps like the Swamps grow through the spring and summer, and then die in the autumn and winter? It could be as simple as incrementally scaling the models, or adjusting their position on the Z axis incrementally each 24 hours, but the result could radically change the gameplay of certain maps depending on the season.
You could have vast open wastelands in the winter, with little visual cover, but at the height of summer there could be the usual tall reeds obstructing vision and providing lots of cover in the swamps for example.
Are those knife animations available on the internet or are these specifically made to be released with Dead Air 1.0?
Because ngl they look pretty sick and I really like them. Definitely best knife animations I seen beside GUNSLINGER ones.

The mod is now done in such a way that there are several (about three) VERY large tasks that are developed in parallel. As for the bad news - perhaps the winter season will have to be postponed. Its elaboration and associated mechanics will gobble up too much time, but I don’t want to release it as is now. Not taking away your glory here, this is absolutely stunning news and I am glad that you guys are working on these big updates. But the encyclopedia in-game is still in Russian for the English Translation addon. Just curious, will you update this later or will you ignore it? I know for a fact that a lot of people do not really pay attention to it which sucks because it's such a goldmine for information.
I made a translation for it today, check the lost translations addon, also translated some files spared on the world with interesting storied.

It would be cool to slow down the player when passing through the bushes, water, and on the ladder, to display the weapon behind his back when looking from a third person, as well as loot of corpses from the position of stooping that will add more realism.

really would've liked to see dead air updated to version 1. hanging out, checking almost every day for a couple of years with no end in sight. such a shame because 0.98 is great, and had so much potential for version 1.
