Personalizing HUD options is always good. Isn't it?
This is a 64 HUD made for Quake 2 Remaster.
Originally made by Coffee009 for his YT, along with weapon recolors Youtube.com, it had some weird color issues and some textures were just the vanilla icons, which i changed so all of the icons follow the N64 aesthetic (atleast, weapon, health, ammo and armor ones). I also included a version which the icons blink red instead of going invisible, and fixed the minus sign appearing when you have negative health or ammo upon death on the invisible / blinking numbers version.
Also added the N64 crosshair replacing the dot crosshair (lets be honest, it was useless and there is already a similar one in the game as another option) and also new sprite and no background options for all the other inventory icons. Make sure to check the extras folder, the instructions are there aswell.
VER 1.2.2: Changed a few wrong sprites and added the PC Ammo Icons as an option.
VER 1.2.3: Fixed the Tesla Ammo icon having a background.
To install, either rename the pak of the option you selected, or create a folder dedicated to it as a mod and run the game. If you create the mod, remember to always use "+set game" shortcut option to load it before the game boots.
Wonderful, playing N64 Quake 2 just doesn't feel the same without it 😎👍
I forgot i wasnt logged. Anyways , i updated the mod with lots of icons as mentioned above. It has something to fit your taste for sure.
Way to go above and beyond, my dude! Fixes all the little consistency issues I had with Coffee009's original implementation. If there was one thing I'd like to see added, it'd be a remaster-green and/or classic-red health icon for the main portion of the HUD...otherwise perfect and far more readable than the vanilla HUD. Would it also be possible to add a green-tinted version of the main HUD digits, for those who want the best of both worlds; N64's readability with PC's colors?
Sure i can do that, but i might in a separate addon.
Is there a way to get these or most of these to show up in other ports or "vanilla"? I'm using the unofficial 3.24 patch at the moment. It's surprisingly hard to find something like this and it looks legit!
Not sure, if the sourceport supports replacing the old PCXes from the HUD with pngs, it should work just fine.
Coffee009 updated the HUD on January 1st, so all HUD icons have transparent backgrounds now. Will the ModDB version be updated likewise?
I have that full version on my steam guide + game banana and mod nexus. I didn't realize I never added it to Moddb
