What is Classic Offensive?
The goal of my mod is to bring back the 1.6 feeling of Counter-Strike, that means: weapons, sounds, stats, physics, etc... some stuff such buying ammo or even choosing your player model won't be possible without plugins but I plan to make the mod without them, even if they're really useful... servers could still use them though.
I don't know when I'll release it, no idea if it'll work great, the list of problems keeps getting longer, but I really plan to fix all the issues by all means Valve let me in their files.
The biggest problem I have is about sv_pure on dedicated servers which blocks the .vpk even if it's the same as the client but hell... for now, only playing offline, or using the lobby to play with friends work.
My goals for Classic Offensive:
- Make the weapons similar to 1.6
- Replace all gameplay sounds
- Remove skins
- Remove new weapons
- Make the gameplay similar to CS:S / 1.6
What I can't do:
- Wallbangs as in 1.6 (even if I change it it won't penetrate more than 64units on some weapons)
- Remake the crouching jumping bug (no I won't edit the dlls)
- Playermodel selection (a plugin could fix that though)
- See inside smoke particles (the game don't draw the world when inside, so nope..)
- Bring back the tactical shield (hopefully I can't)
- Change flashes, smoke time, nade physics
- Add buying ammo
What I did already:
- Removed Skins
- Replaced most sounds, and fixed audio mixing
- Remade the old radio
- Old nades, removed ears ringing, blurry flashes
- Done few weapons stats
- Made new particles (needs some edits though)
- Remade some skins, placeholder models (Awp, knife, nades, deagle, ak...)
- Changed playermodels and made custom skins
- Tweaked localisations, replaced mainmenu texts, weapons etc...

Why are you making this?
- Well first... to learn how much we can mod CS:GO, and looks like we can do a lot of stuff, I first started with railguns in it, then made some sick model replacements, then I though... 'why not making a mod that looks like older Counter-Strikes', people liked the idea, so I'm now making this mod. But it first started as a CS:S port. It's sometimes good to go away from CS:GO for a while, but don't get me wrong, I love CS:GO in its current state.
Planned to release an Alpha?
- Nope I don't think I will, I have few beta testers for now so... maybe an Open Beta... probably near Christmas
Have you planned to port the old maps?
- No but I was thinking about editing the existing ones and edit them to match the old ones... would take a while to compile all this... I focus on the main mod for now... if someone's interested in it, feel free to tell me.
Would I get banned for using this or something?
- Well just don't try to go on matchmaking / official CS:GO Servers... It's a MOD, it's not really CS:GO, you'll get kicked, and using mm will kick you as if you had abandoned a game. Play it with friends or on servers running it

I need someone who have experience in modeling and animating for CS:GO, in fact most animations needs to be changed to the Classic ones, or at least remakes of them.
That's really all I need... that's a thing I'm a totally noob at, the rest is fine.

It is ******* amazing, I will pay for this like standalone game on steam but only when this will be same like CSS in gameplay.

It's more CS:S than CS:GO for now, though it'll be a free mod for those having CS:GO
Great to hear, but basically you want remove graphic from CSGO (do the similar like CSS or CS 1.6), will be nice if all content from csgo will stay (except weapons skins and some new weapons - like in original CSS).
Well as I said in the article, basically removing all new CSGO weapons while re-implementing the old ones, but stuff like throwing nades with right click etc.. will stay.
What about content, maps, elements on maps like boxes, barrel, etc.. will stay ?

as for the new weapons why not change the Terrorist sawnoff 870 to the SPAS-12 "a clever reference to early CS HL1 mod days or the old beta mossberg like shotgun from CS beta 1.0+ days" and the CT Benelli Nova to the classic Benelli M-3 S-90 Tactical

The Mag-7 could be a Saiga 12S or 12K shotgun depending on weather or not you add the CZ Russian Spetsnaz for CT tho it would still be fitting for the phoenix connection faction.

Id also recommend Re adding the MP-5 as it was cut for some retarded reason even tho it was fully functional in game during beta testing 0_o ID recommend a more lore friendly model like the CSS MP5 Navy or CZ like MP-5A3 with fore grip flash light

Id also bump the default MP-7A1s mag count to 40 to make is a mid level PDW between the MP-5 and P-90
A straight port of the default CSS SG550 for the default SCAR-20 would also work as it is modeled with a stock 20 round magazine anyway.

For now CSCO is just a "remake" of CS1.6, nothing to add is planned. Maybe for an other mod, lot of possibilities with bullet based weapons, you can't even imagine,
the cut M-60 or a variant of the M-60 like the A3 or A4 would also make a nice replacement for the IMI Negev with a 100 round belt / box and more DPS and recoil than the M-249 and slightly slower ROF.

It's not on the list of "cannot do" things, but I guess you can't make the radar behave as it did in 1.6 either right? Nor can you remove third person tracers I suspect...
As much as I can appreciate the sentiment I went through the whole development of CSPROMOD, they eventually managed a few things but it never took off.
Do you expect this to outlive the drunken night of this new year's eve?

Hey Z00l, I noticed the CS:CO mod you were working on and it looks super neat! I noticed you were having some trouble with your animations and was wondering if I could help you with that for free! I think it'd be fun. I know a good deal about Counter Strike and I have 8 years experience of animation so I'd do a good job. I know you might want to keep it at Indie development, but I just want to help with visual stuff :) Tell me what you think!
