The release of 'Lambda Core' is quite the milestone for the project. When I started in the beginning of this year I didn't set any goals but somewhere in the back of my head I really wanted to make it to Xen before the end of the year. It seems like I made it.
The project grew and grew over the last months. Not only in size (version 0.70's ZIP just passed the 200mb mark) but also when it comes to scope. I started out doing just the maps and now I'm also working on models, detail textures and even code upgrades. It has also seen a boost in media coverage and the amount of followers on MODDB has surpassed 300. I'm primarily doing this because I enjoy myself but seeing how it affects other Half-Life fans is a boost for my motivation. Many thanks for all the nice response I've gotten so far.
Lambda Core is a fantastic chapter. Ever since you learn about it in On A Rail, this facility has been your goal. This is the place where the fate of Black Mesa will be decided. Deep underground where the teleportation technology was discovered, which lead to the mayham in which Gordon Freeman has found himself. I love the style of the architecture and the vibe of the facility. I also enjoy the mix of exploration, puzzles and combat in this chapter. I've made several tweaks to chapter that will hopefully make the experience even more enjoyable.
Next to new maps, this update also includes several updated models, such as the bullsquid and the houndeye.
I also took on one of my favourite weapons: the .357 magnum.
Next to that, 've turned my attention on a previous chapter 'Blast Pit', which now has full support for detail textures and many improvements and bug fixes. You can watch the full gameplay video below if you haven't seen it already.
Thanks for reading and hope to see you soon... IN XEN!
"So, this is the guy! We thought you'd never make it." :) Congratulations! The whole Black Mesa facility can be played now, that's great!
I'm so glad that Lambdageneration reviewed your mod and made more people aware of your mod's existence. And I have a few new questions:
1.) Once I asked you to make snarks aggressive to all NPCs (in vanilla Half-Life, snarks were only aggressive to humans.)and you wrote that you would make them so, time passed and I would like to ask you made them aggressive to all NPCs or not?
2.) Do you add more ammo in Xen chapters ( Chapters from "xen" to "nihilanth" ?)
3.) Will you improve weapons Hgun?
I hope you do not stay and will continue to develop the pier .
Good luck
Thanks!
1. I still like the snarks idea but haven't gotten around to add it to the code.
2. I want to do a good rebalancing once I put together a beta test team, so ammo amounts will probably be tweaked then.
3. Not sure what you mean here. I'm updating the looks of all models, including the hivegun. I'm probably not going to change the way it works.
Under Hgun I mean Hivehand is the weapon that is used Alien Grunt, I would like you to make this weapon better (for example, increase the number of rounds to 10-12 pieces or increase the damage.)
Lamdba Core
lamba core
Lambada
Lovely stuff all round!
good modification,norm ,BUT:
The vort scene in chapter 2, during the teleportation, is terrible, needs to be redone and saturate the details
Worth restoring workers on maps
and Need xash 3D /XT ,3D models from ps2 version half life 1
Please no. Xash would just make it less straightforward to install and harder to use, and those models stand out too much. The more elegant and simple this is, the better.
The barneys being occasionally taken over by The Thing and talking in inhuman low pitch is the funniest bug ever.
(maybe it's related to having more head versions than HL1 ever accounted for?.. or the head-pitch relation being wonky somehow?)
