Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.
Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).
Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.
Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!
Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.
Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.

A. It's free! You just need to have another Source-based video game to be able to play.

New World Interactive have released their first content update for Insurgency, Molotov Spring.
The update is free of course! You can grab the game off steam if you don't already have it, or try the mod to see what you could be missing!
This new update for Insurgency will expands upon the experience we delivered in January, with several new game modes, two new maps, an expanded arsenal, and much more. One of the biggest overhauls is with our cooperative mode Checkpoint. Since the version you all have been playing, we have practically re-written the AI code from scratch. The new AI are much more intelligent, and Checkpoint is as immersive and challenging as it’s ever been.
We have been keeping our ears to the ground when it comes to issues people have had with our release, both from a stability and gameplay standpoint. We have addressed much of the instability and crashing issues which plagued certain people. If you continue to have these issues, please let us know and we will work diligently until they are resolved.
As for gameplay changes, we have expanded upon the core game experience quite a bit based on a lot of the feedback we have received. Here is an updated list of the game’s matchmaking options, including the new game modes that have been added. For a detailed explanation of the new modes, please see our full changelist.

Bless these people for making insurgency that game seriously saved gaming in 2014 for me! It got great gameplay a good solid engine ofcource! and a fun adult community! At first i was kind of sceptical because i didnt really like the mod THAT much back in the day and because i kind of lost hope for mp FPS after getting so much of the same overpriced bs handed to me.. I picked the game up on a sale for the bargaing of only 7.5 € Thats seriously the best 7.5 € i ever spent! I just want to say a big thank you for this game its like im 6 years old again playing counter strike for the first time (im so glad vip excort has returned now we only need an as_oilrig like map) :D I swear i will never pirate ANY games made by NWI (screw the greedy big AAA developers)
Can't agree more. This game is like what it used to be around 2000-2002 during the half-life mod craze. Lots of free awesome content and the INS devs are just warming up...more goodies to come soon.

What the heck is the SteamCMD number for this? I keep trying to make a dedicated server but when I start it, it always says "Your server is out of date...".
I have used 17700 and have also tried installing it from Steam's Tools. I get the same error.
Sorry, guess this game is dead. Steam version of client not working either. Some "virtual call" error. Worked for a minute or so but the game flickered a lot.
as for the molotov spring.
let's check out, what will the pain will be like (in real life) when the molotov cocktail burns you? + the scorching desert.
