While actual work on the mod hasn't been done, a lot of planning has gone into the mod over the past few days. We have decided that the mod will be on either the XASH or SING engine and will use Spirit of Half-Life. We've decided to use XASH/SING because it looks much better than regular Goldsource. Spirit of Half-Life is being used because triggers need to move with their objects.
Another issue is fog. The original LSD used fog to help performance and for the effect. Spirit of Half-Life includes fog. I was wondering whether to add it or not. Most likely we will add it, but to a lesser effect than the original LSD did. What do you guys think?
I say keep the fog. Being able to see everything in front of you at once would ruin the game's atmosphere. Part of what made it so terrifying for me was the feeling that absolutely anything could be lurking just outside my field of view, ready to pop out at any moment.
oh yeah plz keep it =)
I'll say keep it
Why thinking about using the sing engine?
Isn't it outdated and the xash engine is strongly further developed?
btw. plz stick to the fog :)
yeah looking at newer versions of xash they seem better than sing so I think we'll use xash.
The only public version from the sing engine I could find, was the release 0.1 and it's about 2 years old. So it seems that the project is dead/abandoned?
The recent xash build is just a few days old.
Fog please, that would really help with performance (normally I wouldnt care but my main computer is borked so I have to play on a school laptop.)
keep it, if possible make it toggleable?
yes ofc keep the fog, and as jakey1995abc said, maybe make it toggleable or adjustable...Applying the fog to a lesser effect? Well at least make it so the fog's distance from the player character is variable like in LSD:DE
