"Awake O Dead, for there can be no rest for ye beneath the earth. Let the splintered bones burrow from the grave pall. Let cold fingers grip time-worn blades, and unseeing eyes survey the fields of slaughter. For your time has come once more. And the dead shall walk."
- Motto of the Sylvania Press
Hail brothers and sisters, welcome to The Old Realms!
The Old Realms is a Mount and Blade: Bannerlord modification set in the age of Karl Franz’s ascension to the throne.
The Setting:
We aim to capture the grim dark nature of the Warhammer Fantasy world with the intention of delivering the best possible experience for the player. The Old World will have the player meeting and fighting (Or WAAAAGHING!!) alongside legendary characters such as Karl Franz and Grimgor Ironhide, as well as exploring well known locations such as Karaz-A-Karak and Castle Drakenhof.
The Inner-Circle:
What started off as a small team with immense passion for both Mount and Blade and Warhammer Fantasy has quickly become an ever-growing project filled with a mixture of dedicated people.
What we plan to release:
The overhaul will be released in different stages. The first stage will include the Empire of Man, the Vampire Counts. From this point forward we look to expand upon the Old World itself and include as many of the factions and significant locations as we can with time.
The overall end goal is to recreate the entirety of the Old World within Bannerlord, ensuring all factions and locations are lore accurate and immersive while maintaining the sandbox elements that make Mount and Blade so enjoyable.
You can read up on our planned features over on the Talewords Forum.
The Empire Wants You!
Expanding and looking for help, you can play your part too!
If you would like to see if there is a role that suits you, head over to our discord and check the applications channel.
Discord:
Of course, you can also join just to follow our progress and be a part of the community. All are welcome to settle Grudges! The discord has now grown to a lovely community in which we talk about upcoming things in the mod. There are also dedicated channels in case you have any questions about installation, gameplay, or if you're having issues. We always strive to help you out where needed!

Work on Environment:
Code: Some QOL improvements
The coding team added QOL and UI additions. While our Blessing system mostly works as intended, we know it is very hard to understand how long certain blessings are actually active and how to know what these blessings actually do. For this, we extended the Map information bar with more UI Elements.
In addition, you will be able to easily understand what kind of effect and attributes certain Units have.
In general, we want to make all information and changes in our mod more accessible with measures well-known to players.
Custom resource system:
We mentioned back in January that we worked on a custom resource system that will add a new mechanic for gaining, upgrading, and maintaining troops. We try to make each faction's gameplay a bit special and make upgrades to troops more meaningful.
While a lot is still under development and playtesting we can tell the following:
Dark Energy:
Dark Energy will be a resource that will be used in Mousillon and for other Vampire Count factions. While it is easier to obtain, it is also costly to create and maintain your army of undead with dark energy.
Gaining: The player will be able to gain Dark Energy by not taking prisoners after combat and for any eliminated troop. As a Necromancer or Vampire, the player can now defile shrines which provide additional dark energy.
Undead troops like skeletons and Grave guards require Dark energy to upgrade them. All other costs are nonexistent.
Higher undead troops like wraiths or vampire units have in addition to the upgrade cost also a dark energy upkeep. Inside keeps or towns troop garrisons are only costing half the upkeep. This makes the use of special undead troops rarer, and encourages the use of lesser undead units.
Prestige System:
In the empire, we will make use of a different resource: The Imperial Prestige. Especially stronger units, like gunpowder units or knight units, will also cost quite an amount of Prestige. While Units are overall more expensive Prestige cost-wise, none of the troops actually cost any Prestige Upkeep.
Engineer shop upgrade
In addition to troop upgrades, saving your earned prestige allows you now to upgrade the engineering shop, providing more high-tiered weaponry, which is otherwise inaccessible.
Prestige Projects
In Altdorf, you will also now find a well-connected Noble who will allow you to finance or use your influence throughout the empire, to gain more Prestige, or make use of it for extremely exotic things.
New Career: The Knight of Mousillon
The Knight of Mousillon shares some commonalities with his Bretonnian Counterpart. The silver-tongued men serve the Serpent of Mousillon and can ill-fate the most noble knights. With the help of Necromancers and Vampires in his party, the Knight of Mousillon can conquer back the lands of Mousillon, and free Bretonnia of the Lie of the Lady.
One feature of the Knight of Mousillon is the ability to transform regular Bretonnian knights or troops into Mousillon knights. While peasant troops can be slowly transformed into their Mousillon variant, Bretonnian knights (it doesn’t matter if imprisoned or of your own troops) can become Knights of Mousillon.
For this our new feature of the career button becomes handy. We will make use of this button for a few career mechanics. stay tuned!

WOW this Mod bring so many fantasy vibes inside the game and I from always wanted
a theme like that inside our game!
Well if its in your plans it would be so nice to see and other mounts to ride except horsegriffin creature with also their own custom sounds or poses!
Keep up people bring more creatures inside Warhammer. If I recall correctly they did this on realms of throne another mod that they even placed flying dragon with spit fireballs but I'm really sure your work will be much more magnificent if you set in the table to place except horses and horsegriffins and other Warhammer creatures and also mythology ones like Minotaurs, Centaurs, chimairas etc will be EPIC as Well !!
Here is a list of tips in case you want to start enhancing this Mod bringing more Fantasy creature vibes Totalwarwarhammer.fandom.com
Amazing hard teamwork made here with epic details. After 1 and a half hour I finally saw the menu for a first time and I tested its stuff by quick. But Should I install 'Shader Cache' to avoid issues later or its better to stay as it is in order to Not make my gameplay heavy ?? I don't know what is wise in that situation.. coz between us I fell not so good to wait almost two hours to load my game..it is a heavy mod so it is nice or bad to place that you have on the menu about shader cache? By the way in case later I want to remove this mod where is the shader has been installed , on appdata? Also does this mod require RGM like tides of war to make it playable or only this patch above on the download files ?
Only need the 1.2.3 and the 1.2.5 patch and harmony 2.2.2.162 to work.
And yes the shaders are installed in programdata->bannerlord->shaders->coreshaders.
Building the shader cache is recommended yes, its only 1 long loading screen vs many loading screens when encountering new mod troops in battle
How many times need wait for plaing Norsca or Chaos?
Cant say, wood elves are the next update.
I'm going to test the mod, it seems to be very good and has good reviews, it just doesn't work in version 1.2.9 but I hope you update it and keep up the good work, thank you for entertaining the community with such well-designed mods, keep up the great work
my English is kinda bad sorry
TOR works for 1.2.9, make sure you're using the correct harmony version ( 2.2.2.162 from nexus ) and correct load order
Knights of morr when!?
never, they're bad
