About the mod

The total conversion modification Battlefield 1918 (or BF1918 for short) takes Battlefield 1942 into a whole new scenario, the first world war. Next to historically correct equipments and vehicles, we recreated the atmosphere of these WW1 battlefields as close as we can, keeping in mind the game we are working with. To achieve this, we have drastically changed the gameplay from the original game like so that you must now rely on teamwork, artillery, trenches and slow vehicles.

Battlefield 1918 combines fun with historical correctness, gaming with history, the memory of one of the most terrifying wars mankind has ever known, with fun had by people over the internet. Next to the battles fought on the Western front between mostly the Germans, the British and the French, wealso cover other scenarios, such as the Turkish battlefields at Gallipoli, the Eastern front where Germany and Austria-Hungaria fought against Russia, the Italian front and lately the battles in Africa. Next to land- and airbattles using historic weapons and vehicles, we also included the naval aspect of WW1 in a broad spectrum, as this was the time in which the great battleships still were the absolute rulers of the seas. This mod focus on Multiplayer, but has also Singleplayersupport.

For a lot more detailed overview we're very proud to gratefully present a work of our former member Fritz_Kempf aka Sniper-Snoop who has put countless hours of efforts into a very detailed and informative wiki entry at forumeerstewereldoorlog.nl which contains a lot of additional informations about this modification and it's content. We recommend it very much to anybody who not only wants to know something about the mod itself but also it's historical background - though it's written in Dutch the linked translator will give you the possibilty to gain all of the knowledge included. Please note that it's currently in a pre 3.1 state as our former member sadly had to retire from developing due to a lack of time.

Hello again, the mode has been amazing since last year's update, it has become a very incredible mod! I think after the addition of the Russian Civil War, you could consider an expansion for the Freikorps in Germany against the Spartacist movement. It's not that different from the Russian Civil War, but it's a scenario that no mod or game has adapted, I leave the idea to you. Thanks for your awesome mod!

What a remarkable achievement being 20 years for this mod.
What an awesome surprise to get some more maps for this old Aussie bloke to play.
Thank you so much guys and well done with the entire gaming experience with this latest mod and so far I am absolutely loving Montfaucon.

Hello, I have been running a server map test with the new BF1918 20th Anneversary Edition version for the last few days. Each map was played for at least 5 minutes. Many problems have been fixed, some remain, a few new ones have appeared:

1. The Full Edition no longer includes the Xmax1918, which was included in the 3.4b. Please include or offer separately as a download.

2. Setup: Lubuntu Linux Server: Since there is no server version, I had to build one from the full client version, which unfortunately is not so easy to do via copy & paste, all uppercase letters have to be changed to lowercase letters for each file and folder , because Linux would otherwise have a problem with it. A Linux server version would be great (much smaller because without textures, therefore more performant on the server)

3. I noticed the following map abnormalities:
- Sometimes no map list in the map vote selection
- First Battle of Arras: Server Crash
- TGW Fokker Scourge: Client Crash
- Passo di Falzarego: Client Crash
- Gaza Town/City: Client Crash
- Fort Douamont. 1x server crash with 128 bots
- Battle of Halen: Map doesn't load, server join not possible, single player works.
- Siege of Antwerp is not shown in maplist (single player and multiplayer) and cannot be joined to the server. If you remove all other maps from the Maps folder and then start the game, Sige of Antwerp will appear and be playable.

Greetings

It could be an idea as well having the South African Brigade represented in the mod in the future.

They fought in only 1 major action in WW1, during the Battle for Delville Wood (where they suffered heavy casualties), so it would be interesting paying a homenage to them in the mod. I think that by recycling the Bulleau Wood map, I think we would have a good start to represent this combat - without spending too much effort on creating a new map

Marvelous! Many thanks for your work. A greeting from Spain.

I take this opportunity to ask a couple of things:

Will the Portuguese army be included?

Will any map from the classic Battlefield1942 be adapted to Battlefield1918, such as El Alamein or Iwojima?
