Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Description

The CQ-31 ARES (Aerial Reconfigurable Embedded System), or Drone Lifter as it is commonly called, was designed to deliver supplies and personnel to areas unsuitable for larger manned aircraft or ground transport. For that reason, it is often employed as a medevac for injured troops on the battlefield or as a resupply and reconnaissance drone for ships at sea. It is powered by four ducted fans, giving it the speed of an aircraft and the VTOL capabilities of a helicopter, with a carrying capacity of to 2500 kg of men and cargo. The low noise signature of the fans, coupled with advanced stealth coatings, also allows the drone to mask itself on approach. Commanders who choose to emphasise Air Mobility tactics can authorise any infantry unit to request immediate pick-up by a Drone Lifter at their current location while vehicle commanders can call upon the heavy Starlifter transport.

Besides its use by the US armed forces and a number of other militaries, the Drone Lifter also proved useful in a number of civilian roles. During a particularly devastating wildfire season in California, it was used for aerial evacuations, insertion of fire fighters and as a highly effective water bomber against the fires themselves. This later prompted the development of a dedicated fire-fighting variant that sees frequent use in the US, Canada, Australia and several other countries affected by yearly wildfires. Other variants have been developed for use by air ambulance services, law enforcement and commercial cargo and taxi firms.
