Today we will show some updates regarding our game level art and proggraming.
Here is the layout and texture development process of our project, the cave like aesthetic and egyptcian elements are present in order to give the player the experience intended.
Thumbnailing process:
Exploring level layouts, some textures and game elements.
Sketches:
Exemple of a level layout filled with all possible game elements in the game, that way we could observe how all elements share the enviroment.
We learned that we can incorporate the wall arrows trap on pillars and we started experimenting with diagonal walls.
Our ground texture when rotated can have multiple uses.
Game Programming:
This is our early game prototype developed so far with placeholder art.
here we can see a light source and a pressure plate
here we can see a test of the funcioning spikes along with the lighting effects with shadows on the wall.
The main bugs we solved:
Normalizing the diagonal speed
Our diagonal movement was combining the horizontal and vertical speed making the player super fast, this bug is now solved.
Getting stuck to the walls
We encountered a bug while testing where the player would get stuck to a wall upon a very specific way of contact, making him unable from moving at all and leaving the player stuck forever, leaving only the option to close the game. This bug is now solved.
