The TIE Fighter Total Conversion (TFTC) project ports the original classic 1994 LucasArts game TIE Fighter, into the 1999 X-Wing Alliance (XWA) engine. Based on the original TFTC from 2005 and built upon the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade (XWAU) project, this is a complete overhaul of the game from graphics to gameplay. All 13 battle campaigns and their training missions have been ported over along with 8 Reimagined battle campaigns, taking advantage of the much better XWA engine and imagining how TIE Fighter could've been had the technology of the time not limited it. But here's a general breakdown of what you can expect from this mod!

  • A full port of all the Classic TIE Fighter Battles 1-13, including the expansions Defender of the Empire and Enemies of the Empire - a total of 76 campaign missions + the 28 original Training missions and even the original Demo mission! This includes all the original voiceovers and cutscenes. TFTC Classic aims to replicate the original game as closely as we can which include various gameplay changes. You can see a comparison of changes vs Reimagined by clicking here.
  • A Reimagined campaign of Battles 1-8 of TIE Fighter. These take the original missions, expands upon them for more ships, bigger battles or in some cases, completely build new missions out of them but retaining the same overall narrative and story points of the original Classic. This campaign includes 39 fully playable campaign missions + 4 updated training scenarios. Battles 9-13 of TFTC Reimagined will be completed sometime in 2023. TFTC Reimagined also uses most of the standard XWA gameplay mechanics whereas Classic does not. You can see a comparison of changes vs Reimagined by clicking here.
  • That's a total of 148 unique missions between both the Classic and Reimagined versions!
  • Enjoy the amazing updated visuals for the X-Wing Alliance engine made possible by the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade project (XWAU), bringing this 23 year old game into the modern era of graphics.
  • VR Support, again thanks to the XWAU project.
  • A fully remastered TIE Fighter soundtrack or load up one of three original MIDI Soundtracks (Roland SC-55, Gravis Ultrasound or Sound Blaster AWE32)
  • Rank up, collect memorabilia and earn medals in your pilot room as you progress. Don't forget to check your e-mails too!
  • Join the Secret Order of the Emperor as you play through and rank up those tattoos just like the original.

Mod and System Prerequisites

  • A copy of the game X-Wing Alliance (XWA):
    XWA on GoG
    XWA on Steam
    XWA on Origin
  • The original CD version of X-Wing Alliance will also work but requires an additional installation step.
  • Installation of the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade (XWAU) mod which also has a ModDB page.
  • Your system must be running Windows 10 or higher. Windows 7 and 8 are not supported anymore.
  • An Nvidia or AMD based GPU is required. Intel GPUs are not supported.
  • At least 50GB of free space on your C: Drive if you are installing the game and mod to this location. If you intend to install to a separate storage drive, you will still need at least 25GB of free space on your C: Drive. This is because the installer uses the Windows Temp folder to extract the contents which by default is located on the C: Drive. As it is common practice nowadays for small SSDs to be used as C: Drives. You can check out this guide on how to move the Windows Temp folder if you are short on space still.

Make sure to watch the Installation Tutorial video for full details and step by step instructions on installing TFTC.

Hello everyone, Angel here with a TFTC update for you! As some of you may be aware, I've been working on a major rebalance project for Reimagined the past few months and I'm pleased to say its now ready for some public testing and feedback. As such, I've now posted a version of the Rebalance project for Reimagined publicly on our discord server and now I seek your help in playing it and getting some detailed feedback on the changes to see how it works out for you.

What exactly is changed you ask? Well every ship and station has had a balance pass on it to one degree in all aspects of its abilities, but most importantly their firepower and overall combat effectiveness. The rebalance seeks to make capital ships actually deadly, effective and cool to watch as they fight and also to give every fight its own individual flare or set of stats. This means all primary flyable Imperial fighters also have unique stats which define how they fly and fight to make them more specialised to the roles they were intended for.

For detailed information on what each ship or station can do now, I created a very large Miro board which details all the new stats with the change differences added when compared to TFTC v1.3.4 as it currently stands. You can view this board in our Discord server or in the description of this video. Please note this will most likely not work on a mobile device so view it on a desktop instead. It will probably take a moment or two to load and be sure you zoom out... a lot.

The rebalance also features a complete rebalance of Battle 1 under this new regime. All 6 missions have had various, sometimes significant changes to their combat and progression so these will need thorough testing. All the other battles have not had any changes and will likely be broken or unbalanced in some way. The exception here also is B7M1, Destroy The Protector as this mission also had a major balance pass under the new regime.

To install the rebalance, please join our Discord server for the link if you haven't already. I do this because I want feedback and Discord is the place for it. I need your honest feedback and suggestions as to what I've done and remember my core aim is to make gameplay more fun, varied and interesting as well as giving me the tools I've needed all this time to actually balance missions in a more fine tuned away that I couldn't do before. So its super important that as many of you as possible try this out and provide some feedback to me. I can't do this without you!

If you want some further details or showcasing of the Rebalance, check out my last livestream where I go into detail of each flyable fighter and demonstrate their abilities there. If all goes well and the overall response to the changes are positive, I will move forward with rebalancing the rest of the current Reimagined campaign, then I can finally go back to finishing the rest of the campaign off.

And that's it for this update, feel free to leave your comments otherwise I look forward to seeing you all in Discord. Until then pilots, fly safe.

Hello,

There are no plans to do this because the story of TIE Fighter essentially ends at the Battle of Endor, though I plan to do at least a proper epilogue to the story in Reimagined, as opposed to it simply stopping just before Endor a per the original.

If you end up getting this far, can you make the Tie Defender (after emperor rescue) less stupid?

I don't like games where you play as the bad guys I wouldn't suggest play in Star Wars TIE fighter unless you want to be a Nazi or a terrorist Star Wars TIE fighter is like making a World War II game where you play as Adolf ******* Hitler in Star Wars TIE fighter the rebels are not the bad guys it's that you are the bad guy in Star Wars TIE fighter you're working for the most evil person in the galaxy Emperor ******* Palpatine Darth ******* Vader.

Bruh, I took one scroll at your profile comments and came across these

"Anakin Skywalker died in the Death Star he saved his Vader died he died a hero not a villain and everyone hates the change in Anakin's Force ghost."

---

"Can you please make a dark side ending for Luke Skywalker where he can kill Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader at the same time."

Yeah, you're being a bit of a twat with the doublethink while posting this in regards to one of the most beloved games in Star Wars history. From this point onward, do not play any villain in any game ever from this point, k thx.

You know, fair enough if you have this rather bizarre opinion, you don't like being the bad guy, thats fine. But please don't try to shame others about it. Role play exists for a reason, so you can be someone else, good, bad, evil, indifferent, whatever. It helps us explore the human condition, put ourselves in different situations, even learn from it and not a single person gets hurt from it because we go back to being our normal selves and our every day lives. Good luck to you, but if you don't like what we're doing, then don't waste your time with us and just ignore that we exist :)
