What is this:


This is the major patch for Half-Life: Decay to fixing most of the bugs, and adding some new elements to improve gaming experience.



INSTALLATION QUICK GUIDE:

For installing mod - place decay, decay_hd and decay_(language) folders in root Half-Life directory (for exemple: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life or etc).
The Patch version (any of them) installing only over original (2008) version.
If you use Full one - First of all you should remove previously installed version (including decay_hd folder) and only then installing newer version.
P.S. The interface may display incorrectly if you are using a Patch version rather than the Full one (You should delete the resource folder first, and then install the Patch).


QUICK GUIDE FOR CLASSIC MODELS:

If you are play on 25th anniversary update, or one of the later Legacy versions - just go to settings and find the checkbox - Enable Class Models or Enable Original Models.

If you are playing on WON version, or one of the earlier Legacy versions (which do not have a models switch option) - just copy all of the contents from decay_hd folder to decay folder with replacing (there is no mistake - decay_hd contains classic HL models).

  • Added more languages: De, Fr, It, Ru, Sp (sound+text);
  • "dy_hazard" small fix (in shaft);
  • "dy_dorms" small changes (removed vent shaft and some ideological changes in Easter Egg);
  • "dy_alien" Easter Egg small update;
  • Improved "Xen Atacks" FOV (and returned unmodified original/classic v_slave.mdl);
  • Improved HD background;
  • Improved gun sounds (HD/LD);

Half-Life: Decay v1.024

  • Unexpected bit of update (19.01.2024): I had to re-upload version 1.024 due to an incorrect HD Background;
  • Returned and updated gameui_english.txt and decay_english.txt files;
  • Added kb_act.lst (option's keys list... including player switching) and kb_def.lst (default keys cfg);
  • Fixed Decay logo (not animated);
  • Added animated logo for 25th anniversary update (thanks to user - Ever/SalemTH);
  • Added HD background (Yeah! There is three backgrounds now - WON version, Legacy version and the 25th anniversary version);
  • Added short USER MANUAL in main menu;

Half-Life: Decay v1.023

  • Fixed "SZ_GetSpace" error (bug with "trigger_cdaudio");
  • The number of "Solid Entities" were reduced to an acceptable value on each map (I had to sacrifice some details to avoid an error - Too many resources on server);
  • "Protection from dumb" (v1.02) were removed (causing some troubles on dedicated server);
  • All maps were recompilled without "-extra" RAD parameter (for more authentical lightning);
  • "resource" folder were cleaned and now mod uses only "valve" UI;
  • Updated FGD file (some minor changes);
  • ???

Half-Life: Decay v1.022

  • All same fixes that have Patch v1.02 and Patch v1.021;
  • Fixed missing sounds for player`s bot (critical bug);
  • Fixed the number of lines in weapon_vorti.txt;
  • Added UI sounds (for Xash3D);
  • Some improvements liblist.gam (corrected patch version and removed file storage link);

Half-Life: Decay v1.021

  • All same fixes that have Patch v1.02;
  • gameui_english.txt were updated to HL v1.1.2.2;
  • Added Classic mode (based on VitorHunter's Decay Classic Pack);
  • Fixed eye_scanner`s attachment;
  • Fixed scientist.mdl hands skin;

Classic mode fixes (Low Definition):

  • Fixed LD flyer.mdl meshes;
  • Fixed LD v_357.mdl reload sounds;
  • Fixed LD p/w_gauss.mdl texture;
  • Fixed LD hgrunt.mdl long hands;
  • Fixed LD zombie.mdl last animation;
  • Improved LD suv.mdl;
  • Improved LD dm_slave.mdl;
  • Improved LD bradley.mdl;
  • Most of the LD models were taken from vanilla HL (modified);
  • Added maps with classic rechargers;

Half-Life: Decay v1.02

  • All of the maps based mostly on PS2 version (also on maps of 2008 and some pre-release screens);
  • All maps have "protection from dumb" (you can move only when second player is spawned);
  • All "ENV_SOUND" were removed (incorrectly works in multiplayer);
  • Fixed display of the name of each chapter (duplicated through "ENV_Message");
  • Fixed stats display after the game ends (standalone browser - decay/manual);
  • Improved WON menu (fixed buttons, added animated logo and link to user manual);
  • Used the latest decay.dll (found in webarchive of the project's site);
  • Fixed display of the damage type;
  • Fixed some sprites and models (based on VitorHunter's Decay Additional Patch);
  • Fixed some non-working sentences (I hope it works for everyone);
  • Added bio of characters (Title.txt);
  • Added music on each map;
  • Some bones of p_***.mdl were renamed to fix weapons position (HD player skins use old skeleton);
  • Added new objects to FGD;
  • Some monsters models were replaced by models from HD PC pack (modified);
  • Fixed dm_slave.mdl attachments - shoot by both hands (based on VitorHunter's Decay Additional Patch);
  • Fixed interaction with retinal scanner;
  • Fixed Python reload sounds (based on VitorHunter's Decay Additional Patch);
  • Fixed Displacer's position and crosshair;
  • Fixed Alien Mode bug that makes game crash with error - Mod_NumForName;

Just a detail, that hecu soldiers don't have the sounds of HD weapons (The HD M4 still sounds like the MP5 from LD). This doesn't happen with players' weapons.

could you also give back the invisible walls? like right at the start of dy_accident1 for example,after the door is opened, there should be invisible walls.

or in dy_dampen, when you crank up both the secondary dampening locks. can be very easy to fall down there and take fall damage sadly.

oh, and, if possible, I'd like to also have the PS2 training room with the small extra bit, like that intro scene with the scientists and the auto-aim practise. just for completion. would be really cool!"

Oh! Three months have passed! It's time to answer)))
No, I will not bring back invisible walls. In some places I did it for fun, in others to increase the difficulty. On PS2 there were invisible walls - because you played with a gamepad. On PC this is not necessary.

About the training course - I already tried to do it and it did not work correctly with Decay. I recommend "Yet another PS2 Half-Life PC port" instead. There, all the maps were converted from PS2 (training with auto-aim does not work for reasons).

Thank you for fixing Decay.
Question - do i need HL legacy branch or it will works with anniversary update of HL? Heard some news with mods compatibility and most of them works good with legacy than anniversary update.
