A mod for Yuri's Revenge that reverses the roles of every original Red Alert 2 mission to play as the other side; defend Moscow against the Allied Chrono assault, or destroy the Statue of Liberty in New York.

This mod uses minimal actual changes to the game's code, and instead focuses on delivering a faithful adaptation of the original missions. Some of the minor changes that make this mod possible utilise Ares dll.

This mod is currently in development by myself (Thordorb) and with client work by Vodrix. Credit is also due to Rampastring for the DTA client we are modifying. Many thanks to our internal testers as well, making sure these maps are fun, fair and challenging!

Last week we posted a teaser for Flipped Missions - Yuri's Revenge, showing off our beautiful new client theme (designed by Vodrix). If you haven't already seen it, take a look:

Now we've got you warmed up, let's go into more detail on what that actually means. Yuri is getting a full-length campaign, featuring reversals of every scenario into one cohesive story. Yuri's campaign begins at the height of the Third World War, allowing you to play as Yuri's Psychic Corps throughout the invasion of the United States and beyond.

At first, you will be supporting the Soviets with stealth and subterfuge, and spearheading assaults on major Allied cities.

Image

As Soviet Victory draws close, Yuri starts to take control and build up his own arsenal. The Psychic Dominator network begins construction, and any who witness it must be silenced.

Image

Yuri sends you on several secret operations, infiltrating the Allies and going behind the Soviets' backs to secure the resources and individuals you need for Yuri's master plan.

Image

Besides this main campaign, you can also expect to see several new bonus missions. Flipped Missions occurs in a new timeline from the original games, and this has created several new scenarios for each faction. These scenarios include the Allies attempting to rebuild their forces after the devastating battle of Point Hope that drew the war to a stalemate, and the Soviets making their own preparations in the face of the Psychic Dominator Disaster.

Image

Additionally, you will see several new quality of life features. The one I'm personally most excited about is the speed slider. A lot of people enjoyed having the option to change the game speed during missions, but found it frustrating that it would reset to Speed 4 every time you started a mission, loaded a save or restarted.

We now have a fix for this, in the form of an in-client speed selector, which will allow you to choose your speed before you start, and persists through missions and saves. If you change the speed while in game, the client speed selector will synchronise with that too. So if you're looking for nightmare-level difficulty, just kick it up to Fastest and launch Operation: Fallout!

I finally got around playing the missions for this mod; gotta say its fun playing scenarios even if they are just reversed, I missed Red Alert 2's simplicity in comparison to my mod and a many others.

I hope you keep making missions to play even if they are simple. You can make filler missions btw it does not have to be the US and Russian only. Take for example:

- Cuban missions in south America and probably some in the middle east and south east Asia - they can have the covert operations skew ? perhaps make use of the chaos in US homeland and spark revolutions around the continent ?

- Libyan missions in the Africa and probably south Europe - original c&c missions, look for inspiration for its invasion/war of chad and other what-if conquests like invading Egypt and controlling the Suez canal.

- Iraqi missions in the middle east - a mix between cuba and libya mission types, maybe have it invade Kuwait and Saudi like the gulf war ?

- Korean missions in south east Asia - A lot of island hopping missions, japan, Philippines you name it ! Maybe be have Korea support the allies with mining operation missions aside from the obvious naval missions. A submarine and squid hunting missions is welcomed.

- British missions in Africa, middle easy and east Europe - a mix between covert operations and normal c&c missions. Britain can go against Iraq's conquest of the middle east, maybe some missions here and there in east Europe ? a tie in or extra spy related missions besides the allied mission dark knight ?

- French missions in Africa, east Europe and west Europe, you can make defensive missions for the French maybe ? perhaps missions to retake control of defenses from the soviets something like the Maginot line perhaps ? Supporting Germany missions ? also you can make them fight the Libyan conquests in Africa and support united kingdom in the middle east.

- German missions in east Europe and Africa, tank battle missions with perhaps having missions to hunt elite rhino and normal apoc tanks ? large scale tank battles ? and other defense natured missions in Germany's homeland. they can support France in Africa to deal with libya and such.

Also, have Cuba, Iraq and Libya support each other one way or another.

the missions amount can be anywhere near 1 specific mission per country or "as per needed" basis. Obviously some missions will have a mix of countries in it so instead of having separated in their own thing going with as per needed basis. But I would not top 7-8 missions per allied or soviet side, totaling 14-16 missions however you want to put it. But again, that's up to you.

These are my suggestions. Thanks again for you work !

This is already possible to play steam.
Point one. First open FM installer and install the mod in destination C: > Program Files x86 > Steam > steamapps > common > Command and Conquer Red Alert II.
Point two. Then open Steam and go to Steam settings and in the Steam settings there is Library and there you can add a foreign game.
Point three. Press add foreign game on Steam and it opens Search program, search is at the bottom, go there and do what is at point one, C: > Program Files x86 > Steam > steamapps > common > Command and Conquer Red Alert II and choose FMClient
Point four. Be careful when adding someone foreign game, errors occur.
Point five. The mod only works if Command and Conquer Red Alert II with Yuri's Revenge and ver 1.001 is installed.

Ok. So i have issues but they're most likely my fault.
-The games loads normally now, but the text is still "MISSING: FM1L22" or something.
-My mouse dissapears if activate the menu.
-I can still play the normal RA2.

So i can normally play like i did before. Copy the files from steamapp and install the game there. The only issue will be the text is missing (that could be fixed, i just dont know how). And the game migth need an extra minute or two to load. But goes well once it fully loads. And you can still see the main objectives in the main menu so take it from there!

If you have game errors please contact the developer,
For those who just create folders with RA2 and put the mod in and leave it somewhere on the hard drive or desktop, it doesn't work on Steam and Steam can't find the folder or the executable.
The game and mod must be in this order, see below.
C: > Program Files x86 > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Command and Conquer Red Alert II FM
Steam can only find foreign games in the Steam folder.

GOOD NEWS everybody. I found the error! My Toaster PC! It takes some time to load because the bigger the map the more it requires from the PC. I found out while playing Mental Omega.
The text missing must be just an error. It happens, this is a mod.

the missing text is because the steam release updated the games exe, which means that an engine extension we use named ares couldn't be loaded, this also means that while you could play the missions, some of them could be broken, or otherwise not able to be played quite like intended. on our discord server we have a fix for it, which is just replacing 1 or 2 files at most.

Thank you i will try it now! So i can still play the original RA2 even with the mod?
Because before this i installed this mod in a copy i made of the RA2 files (because i didnt want to lose the OG). But the games takes forever to load, i had bugs and the texts are not working.
I will tell you how it goes!

As long as you have the original game but without mods please.
Make it a special folder called Command and Conquer Red Alert II FM and put it there with the mod.
I did that too so that the original version wasn't lost.

The mod would have to go on steam.
If not, there is an error with Steam or the game.
If there is a Steam error, it is easy to fix this, restart the PC or repair Steam, in the event of a critical error, delete Steam and restart the PC and reinstall Steam.

I forgot something else: the Steam portal doesn't have any updates for the game or mods because it's foreign game.
