Project Reality
Battlefield 2
Project_Reality wrote: Welcome to "Project Reality" , a free to download game modification for the Battlefield 2 (aka BF2) retail Windows game. The focus of this mod is to rework the original game engine developed by Digital Illusions of Sweden (Dice) within legal and feasible constraints to create a more realistic combat environment for the gaming community. This includes adjusting various game play elements including physics, visual effects and overall game play formats. Along with changes to how the game handles, the Project Reality team has been introducing British and Insurgent factions, plus a number of community assisted factions are currently in the works to introduce Canadian, Russian and IDF forces to the virtual battlefields. This Mod is not be for the masses, due to the fact that it has a much higher learning curve then your classic arcade game. This is the real deal.
Age of Chivalry
Half-Life 2
Age_of_Chivalry wrote: Age of Chivalry is a total conversion for Half-Life 2 currently being developed by Team Chivalry. We are a close group of friends who are dedicated to creating a fun story driven multiplayer experience set in a fantasy world in the medieval ages. We are creating a fast paced and fun first person melee combat system that will take the player to a new level of immersion. The players will be able to take part in sieges, town raids and open war in a story driven game. Our goal is to let the players write the history of the game as the teams battle it out over a sequence of user controlled map cycles depending on the victor. We want to take the overall experience to a new level of fun.
Eternal Silence
Half-Life 2
Crankshaft_Games wrote: Eternal Silence is a science fiction mod that pits two capital ships against each other in a seamless blend of space warfare and tactical infantry combat. Pilots coordinate strikes with invading infantry in order to take down the behemoth capital ships from both the inside and out. Bomb important systems, escort a squad of marines to cause damage from the inside. Watch as railguns fire projectiles the size of buses at the enemy hull. Fight with many futuristic weapons including a flamethrower and remote controlled SMG.
Killing Floor
Unreal Tournament 2004
Mr._Kadish wrote: Killing Floor is a survival horror total conversion set in London, England. In a laboratory under the city, a series of human experiments in cloning and biological augmentation are being conducted by the employees of "Horizon". Horizon is a BioTech corporation formerly employed by the government to do the R&D on a top secret series of synthetic combat drugs which would enhance the effectiveness of soldiers in the field.Horizon's funding was cut, when their practices were deemed too immoral even for such a controversial project, but the research didn't stop. Funded by private money from the deep pockets of Horizon chairman and research scientist Kevin Clalemay, tests continued in a more...private location. That was until something went wrong. There were reports that the lab had been comprimised; that the subjects were behaving abnormally...then, silence. Several days later, twisted shapes began to emerge from the confines of the lab into the city above.

Sven Co-op's gotta win this one.
Aww, it didn't. Oh well, congratulation to Project Reality. Gotta love that forest map.
(buried)
it's not even announced yet....
It is. Watch the video.
Not even announced? Dude it's been around for 2 years allready. And it's been improving to this point, on which it deserves to win these prizes on Moddb because it's the most complex, realistic, teambased, actionpacked and fun mod in the list.
The only reason people thought other mods would win is because they haven't tried PR yet. Trust me, once you go PR, you won't go back, ;P
I'm pretty sure I tried it a year ago, and I still don't like it, no matter what. Even though It might deserve it, I find it somewhat annoying that it's till up here, as I watch this series to find a bunch of new stuff without searching myself.
... Not !!!
Many excellent mods, the choice will be difficult.
My bet goes on 'Project Reality'.
Project reality is the awesome sauce. Sven is kewl as well. ^^
It's spoiled in the video unfortunately. I never played Project Reality, but from what I've seen the community behind it is as serious as anything. Sven Coop really seems to have gotten less stable and hasn't changed too much. It's almost a crime for it to win again anyway since its a classic mod getting upgraded and would only serve to hog the light from everyone else. Although that said Sven Coop still is a great romp.
Age of Chivalry and Eternal Silence also have a tip of the hat from me. Eternal Silence is an interesting concept, I've not played it too thoroughly to tell if it works, but it brings a lot of concepts to the table. Age of Chivalry is just fun for what its worth. Arrows are extremely difficult to work with, but the melee system is a lot of fun, skillful, and works well.
Killing Floor I never played without bots and the bots are as dumb as sandbags.

Tssh, Sven Coop lost my respect a year ago along with TS with their ultra delayed releases.
Killing Floor 2.5 Ruined the entire series for me.
Project Reality wins.
Sven Coop as I've said is just really too old and its unfair for a mod with experience and prior rewards to take another cup and hold back the next generation, but its still a lot of fun. You can't rate it down for fun and that's what this is about. Anyway, Killing Floor was okay, I didn't think it was too special because I played with bots who were as dumb as bricks and it really just feels like a huffed up invasion with a store and different guns. That said, the final trio is very interesting, a 'realistic' game with a player base that seems serious, a game that makes medieval melee combat fun, and a game that is really experimenting with a ton of concepts at once.
Project Reality is the better choice, I think.
Interesting choice this time. Age of Chivalry has a very cool MP, PR also :)
I quite like killing floor, but then I didn't try out the others.
Sven co-op should have been Sven co-op2 by now.
My vote goes to Eternal Silence
Many people still prefer the goldsource engine over the new source engine. Personally I don't see why but the HL1 modding community is pretty close in popularity to the HL2 modding community. Sven coop stays to being the best coop scenario based mods for HL1 and many prefer it that way. Why would it want to port to HL2 or be remade when there are many others for HL2 already?
Yeh, Funny how the announced Sven coop source, but nothing happened. Cant say im a fan of the old engine, but some people obviously are :)
Out of them all I'd say killing floor. It has the most dedicated community that's stuck by it since release 1.0 all the way to the coming 2,51, and is one of the few UT2K4 mods that's still alive today (Considering the release of other zombie games and UT3). So many people want it to be ported but I think it's pretty fine as is. It stands apart from any other UT2K4 mod and doesn't resemble the engine much at all. It has an excellent grunge style and some kickass rock and metal music to go with the waves of invading specimen. Hurry up with 2.51 Alex! (Don't rush if it will kill the quality of work though :D)
Loved Age of Chivalry, and loved eternal silence. Sven COOP was pretty fun (Played it after playing obsidian conflict and synergy), but didn't really pull me in as it has so many others. I never got around to playing project reality; was never really into BF mods. Must be good to make it here :D.
Good Luck to your mods!
I would say Sven Co-op! It's a classic and the only mod out of these that I've fully enjoyed but I stopped playing it when WON died. :)
PR deserve this one, their last release is awesome, of course the other mod's are also great, but PR is my favorite.
Sven-Coop.It's very addictive
Age Of Chivalry is awesome!
Killing Floor is fun, but no one playing it. :(
Definitly PR. If you have Project reality, you won't need another game this year. I've never seen something before, being such realistically! And nothing with such a good teamplay. Very authentic!
I loved Age of Chivalry, I enjoyed Eternal Silence, I think I'd choose Killing Floor if I had the chance to play it as I love the theme and co-op games are always a good thing. I was so horribly disappointed with BF2 I've just not been able to re-install it but will eventually for the quality mods, but obviously I haven't gotten around to playing Project Reality, and Sven-coop is definitely a classic and an old fav of mine. I'd love to see either Age of Chivalry or Sven-coop win this one.
Good luck guys
PR is the mod for who dont like Bf2, i personaly hate the arcade gameplay of Bf2, but love PR, PR managed to change the Bf2 gameplay completely.
Yeh, just another reason I do eventually plan to re-install BF2. Though 2 jobs, 2 mods, 3kids = Playtests and Flash games atm lol.
Project Reality hands down :P
Teamwork is the real highlight in PR, if you havn't played it before, give it a try and stick with it. Tops Vanilla in every way - so if your even remotely interested in playing as a team and you own BF2, give it a try. I just think this is the catagory it deserves to win in.
Unfortunately I don't own a source game but seeing the amount of work put into them they all look fantastic and deserve equal praise.
Go go team chivalry!
Oh damn, I only haven't played Killing Floor.
But Sven will win, no doubt.
my vote is for age of chivalry. Nothing is as intense as the storming of the hornburg in the thunder and rain.
Two words, "Eternal" and "Silence"!
Just started playing ES - it's a joyous thing to take down an enemy gunship filled to the brim with their boarding party! XD
Oh and has anyone tried the latest build of AoC, yet? I'm downloading now.
PR is the best IMO. But this is the editors choice and, as far as I know from their podcasts, they are not a PR fan, so I doubt it will win here, but PR will win at the public vote, I'm sure about that !

Sven again? Feels like it's comming every year...
It does... its popular for good reason too, COOP was under served by big game companies for a long long time
And still is.
Age of Chivalry, Project Reality or Sven co-op.
No dystopia? they get my vote.
If Sven never made co-op popular on a Valve engine, L4D might've never happened :P
********, L4D wasn't even being developed by Valve in the beginning. Turtle rock studios started experimenting with the CSS bot AI they made and found out it was fun to fight a horde of AI controled enemies. This has nothing to do with Sven co-op
I don't believe he was being entirely serious :)
Wow, good job of checking out the Dev Commentary in L4D. Now go make me a sandwich.
Project Reality FTW
Hmmm... Project Reality or Sven Co-Op. Sven is a lot of fun, though.
PR rocks. If you want a realistic team oriented fps this is it. I Hope it wins!
Go Project Reality! =D
Killing floor rulez \o/
