Two ways which might work, can do both:
1. Edit the alien health & regeneration values lower in the chr_info/attributes folder Alien.bml file.
2. Edit the weapon damages in the weapon_info/ammo folder files in the "vsAlien" part to something very high.

That guide has more info, tools, hope it is clear, I can clarify things if need be, I´m Nathan.

Yes, i think that will work. you just need to download the "BML to XML convertion tool", convert ALIEN.BML (in side DATA/CHR_INFO/) to ALIEN_noconflict.xml (using the tool, just drop the file on the exe file)

Now edit these vars :

<Health>
<Max_Health>16000</Max_Health>
<Health_Regeneration_Rate>1000</Health_Regeneration_Rate>
</Heath>

to like 1000 and 10 (or what ever difficulty you like)
then convert them back, rename it to its original name as it names the converetion <yourfilename>_noconflict.xml and when reconverting <yourfilename>_noconflict_noconflict.bml.

Update 8/19:
1. Adjust acid splatter range for being to long.(More reasonable!)
2. Facehugger exploding chance reduced.

1.Balancing the flamethrower damage range to the Alien.(Range of the last version is too short!)
2.Every shot of the flamethower consumes x1.3 more fuels.
3.Less chance of explosion.

I think the flamethrower is using too much fuel! At least release a version without the high fuel consumption. The game is tough enough as it is!
