I've always been pretty good at getting to grips with technical stuff. Modding Doom proved to be a fun, but sometimes frustrating experience. There are engine limitations to deal with in the original Doom engine, but then there's also quirks of the port being used. But, I can get my head around that. It's why teaming up with my best friend @[BarefootMapMaker](members:barefootmapmaker:4544685) has worked so well. I can make happen what he dreams up. At least, as far as Doom goes.

Sounds good. Well, this isn't a big enough deal to do an entire upload for just the one fix, so we'll include it with the next release.

It's awesome to know people are getting a lot of enjoyment out of the maps.

Take care, and thank you for the support!

Uh, that's kind of an oopsie. Map 9 goes back to Map 4 when you finish it, and then you can play through to map 5 and 6, then you'll get the regular DOOM 2 Map 7 and 8. This is an error and an oversight on my part. I forgot to put an end after Map 6. If you have finished the six maps and the secret, you have completed what we have, so far anyway. I was just testing what BarefootMapMaker has been working on for Map 7, and it's going to be awesome. I'll talk it over with him and see if it's worth putting out a fix for this. If you want to continue on past the new map and continue playing the regular levels, open the console with the ~ key and then type "Map MAP10" without the quotes. It will jump you back past the secret map and you can keep playing regular DOOM II.

I tried downloading both and was able to successfully. I guess ModDB was having some server problems. Not much we can do about that on our end, sadly. Hope you do manage to get it downloaded and you can enjoy it again.

Thanks for the kind words! Nice to know people enjoy our work!

Like BarefootMapMaker said, we don't know why this happens. Trying to figure it out, but so far we haven't been able to determine why. The problem for us is that it doesn't happen all the time, so it's hard to get an idea of what situations make this issue show itself.

That's normal right now. You have to clip through to get to the exit that leads to Map9. It's just a preview and work in progress, so it's not finished. We thought it would just be a nice easter egg to have in there for now. It's coming along nicely on this end, but we're not sure when it'll be done.

I'm not sure what's going on there, as there are nowhere near the number of monsters you are seeing. 1000 monsters, 5000 monsters, that is not at all correct.

As far as weapons go, that's where we are leveraging Project Brutality. They do such a good job with those and they feel great, we didn't see a need to make any of our own.

Sorry to hear that. Sadly, we're using a lot of new functionality that GZDoom has added since 4.7.1. So trying to backport it wouldn't be possible. I don't know what CPU you have, but it is likely it could run 64bit.

No problem! We have no idea why this happens with PB, but at least the fix is easy enough.

This is a GZDoom bug. No idea why it happens. To fix it, delete the GZDoom ini in the folder. It might be in the same location as GZDoom is, or it might be in the Documents\My Games folder.

Once you delete it. The next time you start the game it will create a new one. You will have to redo your settings, but it should work after that.

Try replacing the version of GZDoom I shipped with the full pack with the latest devbuild.

Devbuilds.drdteam.org

It's possible that the updates to GZDoom brought over from dpjudas's VKDoom might help here, as he has been focusing on Vulkan primarily.

Thank you for the report. I'm not able to get this to happen, though. I have been told by someone that ran intoa similar issue that they were able to get past it by first loading GZdoom on its own and loading into a Doom 2 game. Then quitting out and trying the batch file again. I'm not sure what it is with AMD and GZDoom but they sometimes get a bit weird.

Thank you! It's always great to know people are still finding this mod and enjoying it. It has taken a lot of work to get to this point, and we are nowhere near being done.

Keep an eye out for future releases, and give us a follow if you haven't!

Everything looks fine on this end with that ratio. The setting was added because the map geometry and textures looked too stretched and not how we intended.

This pack contains everything needed to get started. It has GZDoom, Project Brutality, Dragon Sector, and a .cmd file to load it up.

Dragon Sector itself comes with 6 maps, custom powerups, and custom monsters.

There are currently 6 large maps, and we're working on the next one.

If you've already got a GZDoom 4.11 installation and want to play it with another mod or no mod at all, check the addons section which has just the Dragon Sector pk3.

Oh yes, 4% kills is the stats bug. I have no idea why this happens, and we and the project brutality folks haven't been able to nail it down. I think that having levels stats on in project brutality helps it not happen as often.

As far as when we'll do new maps, well, that's going to take time. Map 6 alone took more than 200 hours of work. We expect that once we start on Map 7, it will take about that long to do. Spread over days and weeks. It's going to depend on how much spare time we have.

Either way, thanks for the kind words, and I hope you'll stay tuned. We have more coming.

Hello, and thanks for playing the maps!

I'll do my best shed some light on what is going on with monster counts.

There are a few things going on here. First, it seems you keep the level stats on, so you are not running into the bug where if you turn them off, the final kill count does not match up with the real number of monsters. What is probably happening is that you are missing some secrets, which also can teleport in monsters to fight.

With regards to the number suddenly growing as you play through the map, this is normal. We set a large amount of the monsters to Dormant until you get near the area where they will be needed. If not, the game would lag a lot more. Dormant monsters do not count until they are active, so when they get activated, that is when you see the number grow.

As to the ledge grab problem, this is a bug with Project Brutality. The movement system they have in place can be a bit weird at times. It is on the list of things that are going to get rewritten, though, but I don't know when they will get around to doing that.

I hope that clears some things up. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much for playing!

Could you provide a bit more information on the system you are running on, what WAD, and how you are starting the mod?

Thanks!

Sadly, not much we can do about the fps slowdown with the flashlight. Just an artifact of how GZDoom works and processes lights. Future versions of GZDoom may help this, but there is a lot of work to be done, so I have no idea how long it may take to break GZDoom free of being single core limited.

Ammo is more scarse now, yes. BarefootMapMaker went and tuned the drops so it's more of a challenge. But, if you make use of the base's assets, you can save a lot of ammo.

What is your setup for GZDoom? We've been through that map a lot, and everything opens as it should. If I can get more info, I'll help sort it out.

Oh, and we're currently going over all of the maps and fixing stuff and rebalancing.

You mean like the floor in Map1? That's actually a setting in the editor. You can turn that on with any texture. So, a texture pack would not help there, because it's actually just a regular texture with reflection applied. The others though, I can see what can be done.
