Just finished liberty island on realistic. I really like the changes to the AI, got my *** kicked plenty of times, lol. Much less predictable than vanilla AI.

One minor complaint: it seems that everytime I walk it triggers JC's crouch animation. Not a biggie, but looks weird when entering conversations as JC looks like he is picking up something. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything wrong with my key bindings, besides it's only the animation thats being triggered.

Nice to see this mod is progressing...

One thing, I seriously hope the _massive_ energy drains on some augs has been reduced, especially Synthetic heart. Because that was the main thing that made me quit my last playthrough with GMDX 8. I picked it up at HK UC labs, but realized only several saves after that there was no way to turn the automatic activation off, as even a couple of seconds with the light aug on it drained half of my bioenergy. At least there should be a way to deactivate it. While I get it adds some difficulty and forces the player to think when to use their augs, that was just an overkill and killed all the fun for me at least.

Just saying...

Is it actually possible to make stealth kills (not takedowns) with this mod? Read: do the enemies still scream like pigs when knifed from behind or sniped in the head with silenced rifle, alerting everyone in a mile's radius?

From the looks of it, this mod seems to deliver where Revision failed. Cant wait to play it.

Some thoughts after playing for couple hours, after I grudgingly ended up buying the GOTY version on Steam. I was initially worried that the mod is too focused on making the game just look good, ignoring any changes to gameplay itself, so I'll focus on that:

Played until Hell's Kitchen so far. I was a bit disappointed with Liberty isle, as it was more or less the same as in the original, although lots of new decoration has been added (much more vegetated than before and the like..), lighting is overhauled and some minor changes to the layout. But yeah, I could still pretty much finish the level in a routinely fashion as I could remember all the codes, logins and enemy positions from the back of my mind. I think there were a few more enemies though.

Unatco HQ was much more interesting, as it's almost totally overhauled. Spent quite a lot of time just exploring all the offices and stuff just for ***** and giggles.

Battery park felt mostly the same as before, like Liberty island. Lots of cosmetic changes, some minor layout changes. A few more enemies I think. Boring.

Now I'm about halfway thru Hell's Kitchen part. I'm very impressed how thoroughly it's been overhauled. Only very little resemblance to the original. Had to spend good amount of time finding how to get in to smuggler's. Seems larger than original and has lot to explore. Some new NPCs and a few surprises. Definitely hope to see more levels that have been modified as thoroughly as this is.

So far so good, looking forward to seeing the rest. And yeah, I know that this mod is first and foremost intended as an aesthetical facelift, but at least for me the gameplay aspect is not any less important. If you play a game like DX from start to finish for more than 10 times, you're guaranteed to become bored doing so as you learn the ins and outs of every single level, know the right tactic to use at every point and so on. That's why I think any major overhaul mod really shouldn't ignore the gameplay aspects of the game, especially when it's directed mainly toward veteran fans of that game.

So yeah, too early give the final verdict, but I'll keep playing and see how it goes.

Thank you for the informative update. I was a bit sceptical about this project earlier on, but seeing how much effort you clearly have put into making this, I'm now looking forward to get my hands on the finished thing!

One more DX playthrough, here I come...

So it's just new textures and some shiny new stuff added to the old levels? Sorry but unless there are some serious changes to the actual gameplay, I'm probably going to pass. DX is one of my all-time favourite games, but playing thru them from start to finish like 10+ times tends to make things less interesting to the point that a mere facial uplift is hardly gonna make much of a difference...
