Been a while since I played the mod. Looking forward to trying out the finished product. I'm sure it's gonna be awesome.

Yeah sorry to say I don't think the new model is an improvement. The old one wasn't quite right either, but it was somewhat less noticeably wrong in my view. The new model's nose is too long, the nacelles too wide, and the rear end not streamlined enough. Oh well, no game ever gets the Defiant right. It's a weird shape to be sure, with a lot of subtle curves and angles. I'm no modeler but I imagine there aren't many ships harder to try and recapture out there.

Everything else in this mod is perfect, stands to reason that pattern couldn't last forever. lol

Sorry to say I don't think this model is better than the old one. But then, no game ever gets the Defiant right. It's an odd shape and I imagine very difficult to model.

There's a steam group, dunno how many people still use it but it's probably worth a shot.

That was actually discussed, but I think they decided that it's not really possible. The way the Vasari thing worked was by scuttling your own planets, it wasn't an activatable ability.

The Klingon shockwave titan is easily the most powerful of any of the Titans. Hell, it's probably still OP.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people write off the shockwave ship without taking the time to properly understand it. It may very well be the single most powerful tool in the entire mod.

You should stop sending the pirates against them. Pirates are only effective in slowing the Borg maybe once in the very beginning of the game. After that, the Borg just assimilate them and turn them around to send against you.

Why wouldn't they? That's clearly the proper role for that ship.

Sadly, I don't think there is. It has nothing to do with the mod or it's developers, it's just a symptom of the idiotic way that Sins places players on the map. You'd think that Ironclad would've fixed that system by now since people have been complaining about it literally since 2008.

I don't believe the AI knows how to use the shockwave ability at all. The visual effects of the ability play any time the ship is destroyed for any reason, be it when you activate the ability or when the ship is destroyed by enemy weapons fire. Even other factions ships and structures nearby get that red highlight that indicates damage, even though no actual damage is done unless the ability is manually activated.

It doesn't do that. When the Klingon Titan is destroyed from enemy weapons fire, the shockwave effect still plays and all ships in the area get that red circle that indicates they're taking damage, but in actuality, no damage is done. The shockwave damage only triggers if the actual ability is activated. I don't know why it still looks like the ability is activated even if the ship just dies normally, but that's what happens. So don't worry, they're not destroying their own fleets with it, even if the ship itself is still a fairly useless waste of resources for the AI since they don't know how to use it correctly.

It's not even remotely useless. You just need to learn to use it correctly.

I think you're under-selling it a bit there, dude. You guys have put in a TON of work into the next release, and the changes are far from minor. This is gonna be one hell of a patch. :)

Species 8472 is definitely better than Undine. Undine makes them sound like just another alien, I always imagined that they were too alien to have anything as relateable as a name in the sense that we understand the concept.

All Klingon warriors desire to die in glorious battle. What could be more glorious than sacrificing yourself to destroy scores of enemies?

Maybe the fact that you like Star Trek games should be taken as a hint for you to go watch the shows. Especially Deep Space Nine. :)

More people should join the Star Trek Armada 3 steam group, so we can organize more multiplayer matches from the chatroom there.

They put a very Human face on the Borg, and made her behave in a way that was no more difficult to deal with than any other villain. They made it possible to negotiate with the Borg. They even made a mockery of the assimilation process by having Janeway, Tuvok, and B'elanna allow themselves to be assimilated as part of a strategy, and then just as easily be unassimilated later with no lasting consequences.

They made the Borg into nothing more than a giant inconvenience. No longer were they a monolithic group-mind entity, an inexorable force of nature that couldn't be slowed or stopped except at extreme cost and with a great deal of creativity. Instead, they were a group of people-turned-robots controlled by a single, regular person who wasn't ultimately very different from any other individual. They were a LOT less interesting, and not very menacing anymore.

Eh, a lot of what Voyager did with the Borg was pretty dumb. They kind of took the menace out of them. Made them too "normal."
