With the version 1.0 release coming up very quickly, we would like to tell you all a few details about what will definitely be in our "final" release of Classic Doom 3, but to begin with, here are some screenshots that have been taken in 1600x1200 with all the high quality effects enabled within the game:
We have just finished putting together a test release for Classic Doom 3 V1.0, as soon as the testing period is over we will release the final build of the project, the proposed date of release is 10/12/05. Just in time for Christmas holidays. This release will coincidentally co-inside with the very first public release of Classic Doom 3 0.20 last year, which is entirely un-intentional.
Some of the new features that are guaranteed to be in the final release include:
- Deathmatch play on all maps
- Improved layout on most maps
- Huge number of bug fixes in all maps
- The inclusion of all maps from "Knee Deep in the Dead"
- A full soundtrack that is played with live instruments
- Re-balancing of weapons
There are a lot more features besides the above, the full list will be revealed right before the final release so everyone knows what has been done since 0.56.
As an extra special update, here is the final track for the level E1M8, as re-created by Sonic Clang. It is his strongest work to date, and formatted as an MP3:

We all hope you look forward to the final release of our project. Although we are nearing the end of what we have set out to achieve with this project, there will be some extra features added after the release of version 1.0 in the way of general bug fixes and map optimisations. Thank you once again for all of your support over the past year.
