The Classic Doom 3 modification is a remake of the original 1993 Doom game, by id Software, in Doom 3. The main emphesis is that of brining the older game up to date in a modern graphics engine. The project makes use of all of Doom 3's advanced graphical features while retaining the atmosphere of the original game. This mod only works with the original retail release of Doom 3, patched to version 1.3.1. This mod does not currently work with the Doom 3 BFG Edition. Some BFG source ports are available that reportedly work with this mod, but are untested. The project is complete, and only includes the shareware levels.

Classic Doom V1.0 has now been released and can be downloaded from the following locations:

Once downloaded you will be able to play through recreations of the maps of the original Doom shareware release, all updated to take advantage of the features that the Doom 3 graphics engine has to offer.
Version 1.0 has taken over a year to be released from its early 0.20 alpha at christmas last year but now the time has come to declair the project as almost complete. The latest version of Classic Doom 3 includes many of the following features :

- All maps from Knee Deep in the Dead
- Full musical score for maps and custom mod theme
- Intro and ending cinematics
- Deathmatch support for all maps
- Tweaked gameplay features for a more "classic" feel

There will be one more final release to address any bugs that are found with V1.0. Please list any bugs that you find in our bugs thread. If you wish to post comments to the team, please post them in the correct thread also.

This makes me wish my only copy of Doom 3 isnt on Xbox.
