Great work. I am going to replay the game after so many years.

Is it possible to add flashlight to shotgun, assault rifle, pistol and chain gun?

You would have to download a separate mod for that. They exist, though. You can find flashlight mods for all guns.

Will this ever be made for the BFG edition, or is it not possible. There aren't many mods for BFG, so it does get annoying. I'll probably just get the original version of Doom when this is closer to completion, but I would like to be able to save money if I can

It's not completely out of the question that I may one day make a version of the mod for the BFG edition, but I currently don't own it, the modding is said to be far more difficult on this version and the Sikkmod (Which is the absolute base for my mod thanks to the bugfixes and reorganized files it provide) is not compatible with it.

As to whether you should get the original or not, Doom 4 will be released in less than a month now so I expect previous ID's titles will be on sales in the near future, including the original Doom 3 which already is pretty cheap.

The original really is the best version right now. The BFG Edition does have the advantage of having a 120FPS cap and a better widescreen support (The hud is not stretched in 16:9 unlike the original) but it's also a downgrade on many aspects.

Sorry I'm new to this(mods), but I honestly can't get the mod to work. I've extracted to the correct folder, but it won't show up in the "mods" section in-game. I've tried both the steam launch properties and the custom shortcut neither seem to work. The custom shortcut does appear to reset the game, but it's as if none of the mod files load.

The mod folder goes in steamapps/common/doom 3. where doom3.exe is located. If it's not showing up than you have it in the wrong folder.

This mod won't let me get past the first level. When I enter the elevator and hit the 'click to exit Mars City' button, the game dumps me back at the main menu. Everything else has been fine. Any tips? Fantastic mod otherwise.

Using the Steam version of Doom 3 with a fresh install. No other mods.

Nevermind - I found the solution. I checked the console output when it dumped me back to the main menu and it was an OpenAL error. Disabling 'Enable EAX 4.0" under options fixes the problem. Windows 10.

one question. compatible with source ports?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

Probably not, since Sikkmod has its own modified version of the source code, but if you can name interesting source ports to merge with sikkmod, I'll look into it.

Mod doesn't work, I have it in the steamapps/common/doom3 folder with the doom3.exe and it doesn't show when I hit mods at the main menu. Or when I set launch options with the what was posted above. It's in the same exact folder that my Doom Reborn mod is in, and that's in the mod list but redux isn't....nice

Have you extracted the "redux" folder (Not the files contained in it but folder itself) into the Doom 3 Directory ?

Reply Good karma+1 vote

Yes I extracted the folder to my desktop then added it to my doom 3 folder. Then I think I tried it again straight to my doom 3 folder.

So it must be installed on the SSD (C:) or is it possible to get it to work on a Hard Drive (D:)?

It doesn't matter, really, as long as the redux folder is installed in the game directory.

I had trouble running this with the E3 2002 shotgun.

Moddb.com

I installed the game into my directory of Doom 3, and had it work without an extra executable. When I picked up the shotgun, the ingame model did not appear. It only appeared when I had just stopped moving, and then it vanished again.
Then when I restarted the mod and loaded my save, it came up with a message of having different animations to the base shotgun, and it restarted the main menu with no music or sounds. When I tried to load my save again, it crashed.

I have tried loading different levels, moving where the file goes, and it still continues to show that message and then crash. I have gotten very frustrated, and so I am going to reinstall the game and see if it fixes it.

Hello, strelok. Is there any way to disable the 60 FPS cap? I have a 144 Hz monitor and want to take full advantage of it. I already have v-sync disabled, so I don't think that's the issue.

Thanks in advance.

What is this mod supposed to do? I installed as directed and put the line in the icon to start with doom 3 start and I am still unable to switch from low res in the settings menu. There are no REAL instructions to use this mod. Am I supposed to change the settings first? I have the glitch that won't let you set the 1600x1200. Is there anything that must be done before installing. I put the file in the folder with the doom.exe, then I unzipped into that folder. It put a folder in there with the same name. All the files are in that folder. no new files in the doom3.exe folder. Is there an update for doom that I should install first? Why not give specific instructions.

OK I copied all files from Doom 3/Redux 0.95b folder into the doom3 folder, and now I get "wrong game DLL API version" when I try to load the mod. Any ideas what that is?

OK, googled the dll error and google lead me back here to the "DOOM 3 1.3.1 Fixed Patch v4.2". That fixed it. All works well now. Graphics are Much Better! Still got to get the flashlight mod.

Streloks I've been a big fan of your sounds used in your streloks mod, they are very high definition and make the game so much more better. You should actually include some of your sounds into the 1.0 version of redux. Also can't wait till you finish doing the rest of the PDAs.

Nevermind, I restarted the game and it works now, but I have a bigger problem. For some reason I can't overwrite saves and I have to make a new one every time unless I quicksave. Normal Doom 3 asks if you want to overwrite. Is this a bug?

Excellent work, probably the best graphic mod for Doom 3 that I've ever seen, but somehow I don't really like the change of weapon sounds. Can you make an update that all other things stick to the original except the upgrade of graphics which as you mentioned 'no gameplay changes'? Or is there a way to switch the modified sounds back to the original ones? Thank you.
