Redux 2.0 Beta Redux 2.0 Beta

So, Redux 2.0 beta is out a bit earlier than anticipated ! While I only recommend that you use this if you are in a hurry to replay Doom 3 or want to help me smooth out the final release scheduled for late 2019, there has been so many improvements since 0.95b that previous versions are now basically obsolete. You can check the previous article for a brief overview of what has changed in version 2.0.

This works great. No need to mess around. I extracted it and I was good to go. Also, great widescreen support. The first mod for Doom 3 that really makes it work on my 2K monitor. I'm really happy so far.

One question though, I want to play Shamblers Castle in combination with this mod. Is that possible?

Mod in question:

It is in the summary:

"This mod is for Doom 3 only. It is not compatible with the BFG Edition or Resurrection of evil."

Widescreen doesn't seem to be working: Imgur.com

I dragged the optional files in to my Doom 3 folder. Is there something else I have to do? I'm using dhewm3 on Linux by the way.

That's actually the intended result. Dhewm3 forces 4:3 on UI elements when possible (Main menu, loading screens, PDA and crosshair) in order to eliminate stretching and the compatibility patch is built around that.

I also have the compatibility patch. Should I remove the widescreen fix then, and just stick with the dhewm3 patch?

Things are looking as they should so you don't need to do anything. If you dislike that some elements are displayed in 4:3 with borders you can turn off the "widescreen fix" option in the main menu, leave the game and delete "zzpakratio_UI(Dhwem3).pk4" and "zzpakratio_UI(Dhwem3)AltCrosshair.pk4" from the "redux" folder. Just note that the main menu and PDA screen will then appear stretched.

Oh. I thought you had made a 16:9 PDA screen and main menu.

I just got a brand new gaming PC that is rippling with heavy muscles!

Unfortunately, I can't get Doom 3 Redux to install at all.I followed the instructions but it didn't work. Here is what I did:

1. Downloaded 2.0 RC2. Extracted the folder according to your instructions. I extracted it to the proper folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 3 I also went into the Steam configuration menu and entered this line: +set fs_game redux

When I launched the game, I went to the options menu and clicked on "Mods" but there was only one thing showing there: "DOOM 3". I clicked that to launch it and it restarted the game but your mod didn't load!I even deleted the whole game via Steam and reinstalled it and did the same extraction that I did before except I extracted your files into a new folder I put inside the Doom 3 folder labeled: "Mods". Again, that didn't work either. Each time I launch the game and click on Mods: only "DOOM 3" shows up and launching this mod doesn't do anything. Can you please help me figure out how to do this with very straightforward step by step instructions? Again, I'm sorry to bother you but I don't know where to turn.

Thank you for helping me with this,

Steve Taylor

Put redux folder in Doom 3 folder. Launch Doom 3 and pick it from the mods list
