Grey’s life has been nothing but a struggle. A constant downward spiral, and it seems even reality has turned against him. Grey awakens to find that the world has gone quiet, the streets empty. You must find help. Explore the grim world Grey lives in a completely new and unique world, and find clues to his shattered past. Grey is a total conversion Half-Life 2 horror modification where the player must solve puzzles, fight to survive, and find out what is happening to the world around you. We have made a lot changes to the base Source engine and have added countless new mechanics in the mod such as the objective indicator, portable medkit, donator based extras, pickup animations, failed reloads, new picture based GUI elements and much, much more!

awesome sharp textures (like in-game then?) also nice to have him almost completely filled with shadows - that you can recognize his weapon because of the outline against the lit-up ground is also well placed. nice :)

to answer your question: yes it would be! :D they should finally improve the lighting in source, especially for the sdk and all the modders out there. maybe with the next official source game some bigger changes will be made here. let's hope for it. ;)

Well, when CS:GO comes out in August, we will have a new SDK.

this lighting is actually already possible in source but it just hasn't been implemented into any games properly.

There is a big difference from the shadow mapping(dynamic shadows) in Source 2007(this mod) and CS:GO. Main thing is Source2007 shadow mapping is slow, ugly, and slow. Portal 2 and later uses much faster and prettier methods.

Also, CS:GO will not come with an SDK, it has the same limited toolset every game since EP2 had(excluding AlienSwarm). Authoring Tools. Which means you can't code anything. And since you can't code, you can't add real NPCs, weapons, engine-features, or game mechanics. Hell, last I checked you couldn't even use env_projectedtextures that cast shadows in CS:GO. And without code, you can't fix it.

You want pretty dynamic shadows? Write a new shadow mapping system for Source2007 or use the Alien Swarm engine version.

Anyways, I like your scene here. I'm actually about to download the mod. Looking forward to playing.

I just screwed around a bit with 3ds max and Vray and here is the result. All of the models from the mod, no highpoly and fake shit, just better lighting.

Would be cool to see such quality in source, huh?
