The goal of Half-Life 2 : MMod is to enhance and expand gunplay, combat mechanics and the immersion factor by giving the Player more options and combat opportunities as well as refine how the Player handles his arsenal. Half-Life 2 : MMod also offers minor AI enhancements, extended abilities for combine soldiers, multiple bug fixes, enhanced visuals, VFX re-design, sound redesign and much much more, while keeping nearly every new feature in the mod totally optional.

This mod drastically increases the visual fidelity, gameplay and AI while keeping completely lorefriendly! The animations, foley and visual design all synergise with each other brilliantly!

Don't know if I will play vanilla HL2 ever again.

Awesome mod! finished hl2, ep1, and almost ep2. I cannot go back to vanilla anymore.

I rate it a 10/10! personal favorite, you can see the love and passion put into this thing. for 9 YEARS. Mod of the Year for me for sure!

There is nothing to say. Awesome graphical and overall gameplay improvements to one of the best singleplayer games of all times.

No doubt a fine mod, but it's far from perfect, and I don't think I'd say it's a definitive improvement over vanilla Half-Life 2's gameplay.

Before I get into my criticisms, I want to say that I am a fan of most of the things this mod adds. The new weapons and effects are a lot of fun, and are very cool. I love that you can take the Tau cannon off of the buggy and keep it. A lot of the new animations are also very clean and very cool. The improvements to the combine soldiers are also good, making them more of a threat.

However, I have a few issues with this mod. For starters, I absolutely despise the new sprinting mechanics. In vanilla Half-Life 2, your sprint bar can run out, but while its recharging, you can sprint as long as the bar is at least partially full. In MMOD, once your sprint runs out, you can't start sprinting again until the bar has completely filled back up. This change almost ruins the mod for me. I like to play Half-Life in a very run and gun manner, pretty much holding down the sprint key the entire time. Its useful for running into a group of enemies and running to safety. The cap MMOD imposes makes firefights a lot less fun, because it nerfs the way I like to play. The speed of Half-Life 2's gameplay is part of the reason Half-Life 2 is my favorite game of all time.

This leads me to my next point, which may just be an extension of my last point, might be in my head, or might actually be true: the gameplay feels slower. I don't know what it could be (other than the nerfed sprint) but something about the combat feels a lot slower paced than vanilla Half-Life 2. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just feels that way.

Other than those issues though, this is a good mod. With a few updates however, it could be even better.

Very well done mod on the whole. Love the tau cannon integration, hd weapon re imaginings (with stunning animation), and just overall feel. A few critiques would include how the combine jump looks a bit awkward (though I really like how the new AI functions), the pistol drops off in usefulness almost immediately, and the less-apparent now but still very annoying ai disabled and node graph bugs.

Another problem I noticed recently is the draw time for the gravity gun, this change makes it far, far more difficult to utilize it efficiently in combat to throw grenades back at enemies.

P.S. One of my favorite parts of fighting combine is their new options for attack, such as all combine with the ar2 now being able to use the dark energy balls instead of just elites. However, I felt the smg grenades were a bit too devastating and undetectable, so I would put some sort of delay for them (don't know if there is currently, disregard if there is one), and perhaps some sort of primer sound. Heck, it could even be a good idea to do that for the player smg.

I downloaded this mod thinking I would test out some of the new weapons and I ended up playing through half life 2 from start to finish. The weapon upgrades are excellent and significantly improve upon the games dated mechanics. The lighting improvements and hi res models are beautiful and I felt like I was playing a new half life game. I've downloaded mods for half life 2 before but this is my favorite. Black Mesa is good but the weapons are so satisfying to use in this update. Thank you to the mod developers who worked on this. I hope more people will play this and discover the hl2 games.

I have to thank the mod creators for doing a great job of enhancing various Half-Life 2 titles, even Metastasis. If you're looking for a reason to play through the games again, you can't go wrong with this mod.

Great Mod. After a rocky start, the patch fixed all of my problems with this mod. A lore friendly enhancement that improves the game while keeping the spirit of the original.

hey, kudos for the mod. Even though I heard it has some issues, I'm pretty sure you guys will polish em' all out and I'd say mod has some tremendous potential. I wasn't expecting myself to came back to HL2 ever again but I was wrong :)))
