I have been improving one of Undying Nephalim's older releases of Hyrule Total War - namely the 3.8 version released at the end of 2014 and the final version with all the old faction rosters. The mod will have custom strat-map cities/agents, custom battle-map settlements, new resources on the map, new factions such as Majora and the Oocca, new units for most older factions and the minor factions especially, new animations, new 2d-art. Majora will use unused reskins for the Zora, Kokiri, Gorons and Hylians made by the Undying Nephalim, while also using new re-skins made by Codeman over at the Hyrule Conquest Discord for the rest of the intended factions that Neph intended for Majora to use - and this submod aims to bring you the most finished Hyrule Total War yet - using the older models because i think some of them were better but not all.

Description

This patch will fix the crash to desktop (CTD) that happens when the player is playing as Horon on turn 4, it's when Link spawns - the reason for the crash was that the removed unit known as the "Horon Civilians" or otherwise known in the game's code as the "civ_hylian"-unit. I had forgotten to remove the old spawns for the unit there, as Link does spawn with two units of civ_hylians - then in a turn he and those units are moved off-map and he spawns for real with the intended mounted recruits. I had forgotten that the initial spawn that the player will never see in-game had the civ_hylian unit spawning in the code. To fix simply drop the data-folder into your "Hyrule"-folder and merge it with the one that is already there- also make sure when you use WinRAR to extract the folder, that you only have one data-folder - it should be data/world/maps etc - not data/data/world/maps etc.. Sometimes when you use WinRAR there will be double-folders. It should only be one folder named data.

Hi, great mod, but I have a rather big issue:
I play Medieval 2 on Windows 11, and have successfully run other mods without issue, but this mod won't even fully boot. When I use the exe provided by the mod, the mod won't get past the initial boot screen, for some reason. I even tried using the bat file and that let me progress to the faction selection screen (though changing the screen resolution didn't work at all), but wouldn't progress beyond that.

On Windows 10 or 11 it's not possible to use the .bat-file with this mod, you'd need a Windows 7 or older for that as all the giants and spiders will crash on modern systems without the M2TWEOP.exe.

If you can't progress through the faction selection screen then I'm guessing you haven't patched the medieval2.exe and the kingdoms.exe with the 4gb patch or the large address aware patch? They're also mandatory.

The M2TWEOP.exe can randomly crash at start-up but the solution is to try again. If it happens many times in a row you might be missing a .dll-file or something for the tool to run.

i have installed the 4GB patch, i've never heard of the large address aware patch. i'll install it and see if anything changes.
thanks.

The 4gb patch and the Large address aware patch are essentially the same, so I'm guessing your issue is one of the other mentioned issues.

I don't know, I've had the issue of not being able to run M2TWEOP on some computers, and on others it worked fine.

I do think that the developers on the link in the article are the ones who can help you, as I didn't develop the tool. So i don't have the answers to why it has issues on some computers.

I do recall I got some advice from there or links to files I needed to download to update the DirectX or the Microsoft drivers or something.

So it's probably a cause of outdated Microsoft DirectX drivers or something similar.

i do think my Direct X drivers are up to date, but my Nvidia drivers (which i use for these sorts of games) do need updating. i'll have to see if updating it changes anything (which i hope it will)

Or it could be the opposite, that you need the older versions, but for the tool I believe it's the updated ones you'd need.

Edit:

Here is the TWC page:

Twcenter.net

A link to their Discord should be there as well.

There are also more recent versions of the "M2TWEOP.exe" so maybe they'd work better for you, but the problem with them are that no saves will be loadable from a version of med2 not using the tool. While the older version of the M2TWEOP.exe that I included allows for loading saves that aren't using the tool.

if my Direct X is too up-to-date, i probably won't downgrade, because i need it up-to-date for other games

You misunderstood, you don't have to downgrade, I have many versions of DirectX installed at the same time, the older from 2009 or so was needed for Medieval 2 to run i believe.
