This mod is incredibly awesome and I love it. I am a lover of fantasy mods and have played Pendor and all the good ones. I hope that this mod continues to be in development and never dies. It combines elements from fantasy and medieval themes and even has a flaming sword which is incredibly well done! I have only been playing 0.52 for a while but I am in love with it as it is so amazing.

Some people, like the guy who rated it a 1 because of not being able to play as an elf, seem to forget that this mod is only at alpha(?) or beta stage and already has an incredible amount of features. The instructions for installing were indeed a bit hard to follow but I'm sure that will be, among other things, fixed and made more clear (although I myself did not have much trouble installing it since I've played many mods).

The amount of effort put into this mod is pretty amazing, and 1 year ago when it just came out I did not imagine that it would become this fantastic. It has been in development for a long time and I hope it will continue to be so.

As a response to the guy who said that this mod had no "effort" put into it, well he should try making a mod! I'd imagine it would be hard, not to mention most mods have less than 2000 items. Now I have no modding experience myself but I think that it would take a lot of effort to make a mod like this.

As a final note, thanks to the developers for doing a wonderful job and I hope you keep at it!

Well since I can't add a second review, I will have to edit this one. I originally reviewed this mod almost 1 year ago to the date (Nov 20th, 2013). The rating I gave still stands. There were a few speed bumps along the way, and some bugs slipped through the cracks, but the dev team continued to work on them relentlessly. I have left the original review in this at the bottom for those who want to see it.

Everything seems very stable. I am running battles on 300 size with very high graphic settings, and I haven't had any real issues (keeping in mind I run a beastly gaming rig, battle size and maxed settings not recommended for lower end machines). My work computer can handle it with normal battle size on low graphic options other than maxed texture detail and character detail, though this is with on board graphics so not a strong GPU. Something in between should work perfectly for the standard mid-range PC.

The latest release is the same quality I have come to love and expect from the dev team, so I am very happy with it. They have great communication with the player base, and will always do their best to resolve issues that are discovered. You have no reason not to pick this mod up and test it yourself.

ORIGINAL REVIEW
This mod has shown the most improvement and quality coding over time. I enjoy it greatly, and have been playing it for a while. After a short break, I came back to play it again and found that an update had been issued. The hard work of the development team shows, and the quality of the textures do not disappoint. In my opinion, this is one of the most entertaining mods I have had the pleasure to play.

This mod is also very challenging when you set the difficulty to maximum. This is something I don't always do in mods for Warband, as it is difficult for devs to balance the combat well. This mod seems to have good balance, so long as the player has the sense to avoid enemies that chase them. If they chase, they think they can beat you. Keep that in mind.

In addition to the crisp textures, the musical score is excellent. I often play my own music when livestreaming Warband games, since the music is often overlooked. In this one, I enjoy the music as much as the gameplay.

Overall, the rating speaks for itself. I look forward to further updates.

Usually I would give this an 8 for the few remaining bugs and engine "limitations" that might make some dialogue or scenery act a bit strange, but the dev team of this mod is constantly working on bug fixes, reading suggestions and interacting with the community in general, you can't really give nothing lesser than 10 to such kind hardworkers.

As for the mod, Perisno is the greatest mix of medieval warfare and fantasy in my opinion, you won't see a bunch of goofy wizards or giant dragons setting the entire battlefield on fire making regular units useless, think of the medieval warfare as the main dish and the fantasy as the spice used on said dish.

Pro:

+Great variety of items, armor, weapons and mounts. All very well done.

+Unique quests, some give you lore, others give you amazing rewards.

+If you thought units in Native took too little time to reach their full potential then you'll love units in Perisno, the true elite units in this mod are no pushovers, dueling with righ-ranked lords is no easy task either.

+The lore remains very neutral and impartial towards factions, there is no black and white in Perisno, even the elves could be considered evil depending on the player's opinion, don't expect any "Lulz shoot deh bad guise" quests in this mod, who is the bad guy here is completely up to your own opinion.

+Solid Dev team who listens to suggestions and responds even when they're complete ****, if I put any con here it'll probably be fixed in a future update.

So-So:

-/-A LOT of factions and sub-factions, the lore feels a bit overwhelming at first, so you might want to read a thread somewhere about Perisno's lore to understand what you put yourself into.

Con:

-Companions seem a bit recycled because there is a lot of re-used native dialogue from original ones.
-A few dialogue and unique quest flaws (like princesses acting like debauched male grunts due to dialog limitation), nothing serious though, devs might fix soon.

10/10, would bang lesbo princess.

One of the best mod. Thank you guys. Have a good work!

Everything in this mod is amazing

This mod is one of the best one I've ever seen and the new content for .7 look amazing

Not as good as It was hyped out to be, but Got some great ideas

Runs perfectly and has great content well done!

Definitely the best M&BW; mod out there in my opinion. Lots of other mods tend to turn me off pretty badly, as I'm not into playing a mod about a real time period or event. Some other good mods just seem to lack something, or in the case of Blood in the West, they're too buggy or crash a lot. This mod is perfectly stable, has great fantasy elements and it's own lore. It even has its own wiki! This mod is a must have. If you give it a shot, I guarantee you'll like it!

v1.001
This is a very good, rich mod, with obviously a LOT of effort put into game aspects, with some questionable changes

Let's go into the details (longread):

- Superb character creation screen. It's comfortable to use, a lot of nice touches which make the whole experience of creating the character enjoyable. The only thing I'd like to see there is a detalisation of which choice gives which stats, instead of them all summing up

- Extreme gear variety. This is something I adore, being able to choose equipment from a thousand of pieces. The major difficulty here is finding the actual piece of decent quality, shops barely sell anything (the armorer can sell 2-3 unique faction pieces with everything else being +1 armor gloves and other useless stuff. No equipment upgrading at a smith is a big disappointment. RNG merchants sell the same pieces most of the time and re-rolling them for hours isn't exactly fun

- Looting skill works. The point explains itself pretty well. No idea what the devs done to looting algorithm, but it's now an essential skill to have

- Profitable combat. Both prisoner management and looting provide enough profit to sustain and even upgrade yourself and your troops. The only downside is that any hit which is not blunt kills the enemies for good, so you have to use unreasonably short blunt weapons

- Armor and damage. Perisno reworks armor system, ironflesh now reduces damage received by 3. It makes ironflesh extremely broken combined with heavy armor. The cutting damage, never use that, it's good only for killing naked peasants. Get a good pierce/blunt weapon. Luckily, there are piercing/blunt weapons that are significantly better than "legendary swords". The whole thing makes high tier troops extremely good

- Trading is useless. I am not a big fan of trading, but it's a big economy aspect which doesn't exist (isn't profitable) in Perisno

- NPC weapon profs are insane. It doesn't help melee fighters, but all archers land perfect headshots through shields from mile away

- Archers everywhere! Nearly every unit has a ranged weapon, while it's fair for melee fighters to have various throwables (throwing is a lot of fun), the sheer number of cavalry archers isn't fun to deal with. Bandits? Full party of cavalry archers. This is true for most bandit parties in the mod, makes you totally ignore their existence, several major factions land nothing but cavalry archers, some lords of other factions have armies consisting 100% of cavalry achers. They also feature an advanced AI, a very good one actually (unless it's xbow cav), but fighting cavalry archers is a huge waste of time. It made me assemble an army entirely of archers and shielders (best combo any day?) and just afk every time I fight cav archers

- Combat abilities (press the "N" button) are a very good and helpful addition. It makes your character feel more unique. I'd love them to have more visual/audio representation however. For example, the shout skill should actually make the character scream, inspire ability for some reason lacks the animation on horseback, first aid ability, on the other hand, looks broken on horseback

- Quests is an interesting idea, but chances are, you won't be doing them until you have 200+ party capacity

- Random attribute gains over time are welcome. Some way to control it would be welcome, since during one playthrough you gain nothing but strength boosts, the other one it keeps giving you agility, when you already have 30+

- Bad sieges. Decent scenes, ok archer spawn locations, but broken pathing everywhere. Is extremely hard to put troops where you want them (while attacking), units get stuck all over the place. Promotes just 0-F1-F3. This mod has the worst sieges out of "popular big mods" out there

- Lack of battle plan and advanced formations mod orders. Default mod settings make everything immediately charge you so, obviously, you play defensively 100% of the time in big battles, battle plan would be extremely useful to save your default formation instead of having to re-do it every time.
A lot of melee units come with randomized weapon sets, and the lack of "use shields" order is fatal in Perisno's world of archer domination. Skirmish tactics (avoid melee order) are also impossible to execute for the player, an order extremely useful for cavalry as well

- Zann invasion event is pure fun. Enough said

- Interesting and varied troop trees. Definitely a mod's advantage

- Availability of customizable troop tree, a huge advantage with a big downside - number of recruits you can get is severely limited

- Great main menu/loading screen arts, high quality and originality of weapon/armor pieces which are not taken from other mods/other game's mods

- Useful npcs in taverns in abundance, you don't have to look for ransom breakers over the whole world

- Minor factions, bandit factions and unique spawns are all unique and very well done

- Great minor troop trees and mercs

I hit a symbol limit, wow
