I learned writing installers in NSIS in 2020. Some of the old games required changes in their config files in order to run them on today's computers. A casual player does not have time to find solutions how to fix a problem. He just run one of the installers which makes all things for him. Installers, Updaters, Uninstallers. Adding new registry values, adding entries to "add or remove programs", changing information in XML files, etc. Games fixed/modded: 1) The Settlers II - 10th Anniversary (+AddOn) 2) The Settlers - Rise of Cultures 3) Risen

That's expected. I thought they will introduce the mouse sensitivity setting in one of the newest updates that came after 2023, so I disabled it.
And the official 2023 patch also contains updated images for the load screen, so I disabled it as well. They would be incopatible with the patch, because the 2023 patch uses the main menu picture in a different resolution.

You could try to install Risen version 1.0 from Steam or a CD, then apply Risen unofficial patch 1.3 (for non English versions read the readme, language patches should be installed first).
This Risen FPS and Aspect Ratio fix installer only copies the d3d9.dll and d3d9.ini files into the game folder.
Then it changes the max frame rate based on the Hz of the monitor, in the d3d9.ini file.

If you checked the other checkboxes in the installer, then the installer sets some settings in the game INI files, like changing the resolution to 4K, and it replaces the 4:3 images in the loading screen to 16:9 or 21:9.

Yes. Don't forget the 2009 Patch for the Vikings AddOn. I just posted a link into the description.
Everything is reversible. After installation there's an uninstaller in the game folder, in case something will not work.

The maximum amount of Coal a single mine can mine is 259. Siedler-maps.de
As I remember you can increase the mining range of a mine, from 3 to a bigger number.
259 Coal allows creating up to 86 generals, starting from 0 soldiers.

Did you follow the installation instruction from the description?
You have to enter the game path, where you have installed the Vikings add-on.

Here's an example of playing the game on an Ultra Widescreen resolution: Youtu.be

Is the resolution of your monitor 1920x1080, then you should play in 1920x1080. If you want to play in a 3:2 or 4:3 ratio on a FullHD monitor, then you can add resolutions like 1620x1080 or 1440x1080 with the app called "Custom Resolution Utility". And then change the setting in the nVidia or AMD control panel so the image isn't stretched for non-standard resolutions.

This widescreen fix only adds additional zoom levels, depending on the aspect ratio of the set resolution, and updates for densities for different camera heights.
We haven't found a real solution for the FOV setting.

It's because the encoder/decoder is an EXE file which modifies files when used on them. This is why browsers or antiviruses classify this EXE as a threat.

Vikings Add-on from the Gold Edition = Vikings AddOn 2007 release + 2009 Patch.
This is the only difference.
The game should run when installing the 2007 Vikings Add-on for the 10 the anniversary, when applying this 2009 Patch.

Here you can find the link to our S2 Discord: Siedler-maps.de
Maybe you could help with the missing Korean translation? :)

The "Vikings 2009 Patch" only replaces files from "Die Siedler II: Die nächste Generation - Gold Edition" from 2009 that are newer then the files from the 2007 releases.

You could try to uninstall the whole game, then remove the "C:/GOG/The Settlers II - 10th Anniversary" folder, so all the mods are uninstalled. And then try installing the game from the beginning.
Select "Remove user data and save files" when uninstalling the game. (There's a cheat to skip missions - there are no statistics in the game how many times you used them etc.)

Oh, the K.Patch. I should update its name to Balance Mod. There were fixes that were moved to the widescreen fix. This is why I have to rename it.

The problem is that the "K.Patch" cannot be installed between the 10th Anniversary and the Vikings Add-on.
But I cannot recommend the K.Patch (Balance mod) if you play for the first time.

The entry with the mouse sensitivity is in one of the game files, described on PCGamingWiki. With this mod it's set to "-0.29f". You could try the value "-0.27f".

The balance mod you are talking about makes the playthrough a bit different. It's not necessary. All missions are still passable, and in shorter time - that is for sure. However, the majority prefers the vanilla experience.

I know about this mod. But still, there is 400 FPS in the main menu with it, and the lightnings frequency bug is still present. You notice it when you jump around in the beginning of the game.

I don't get notifications here on ModDB for comments under my mods - this is why I haven't noticed your comment here before.
The mod on Gamepressure will soon be updated as well. I removed the rescaled image of the inquisitor from the main menu, because it's just not compatible with the official 2023 patch of Risen.
I could make an update: an installer with 4 images.p0x files - so the older version of Risen is also supported with the images of the inquisitor. There is still not option for the mouse sensitivity in the newest Risen re-release - but this option should be on the Steam beta branch right now.

I just updated this fix for the official 2023 Patch of Risen. Some components are no longer available if the installer detects the newer version of Risen. Soon there will be a mouse sensitivity option in the game, so I disabled this function also from this fix.
Soon, this fix will only be necessary for owners of ultra-wide monitors.

Try to move the camera up on a hill. The camera then will stay higher. For now this would be the best option.

If you see any spelling errors, or too long words for a window and other bugs, then let me know on any Settlers forum, Discords, etc.
Or if you have a problem with installing these things, ask there someone, maybe they can help. You should find links in the Readme file.

Create a blank text file under "/bin", and rename it to: "s2dng.exe". This should trick the installer.
I tested my installer with the GOG Version and CD Version, and it worked.

Which version of the game are you using? If it is not the GOG Version, have you applied the 11757 Patch?
I don't know why it recognizes "The Settlers II - Vikings" as the installation location, the installer must have read this location from the registry. It throws this error "Wrong Path .." as it does not find this file: "/bin/s2dng.exe".
You can try to enter the Game-path manually.

But ships in Settlers II from 1996, or in Settlers Rise of Cultures are even slower. Keep that in mind. I made them slower, their movement is a little more natural though. Without this patch they where immense fast.

I decoded a file called PB_R_Headquarter01_L.tga
opened it in GIMP to see if I can read it, I can -
and encoded it, and put it back to the game directory.
The size was bigger after dec/enc, but the game had no problems to load it.
This Tool is exactly the same Version as on the Xentax-forum - link can be found in the Readme.txt file.

How to open DDS files?
For Windows, copy the dds.exe (64bit) file to the plug-ins folder in GIMP. Works even with GIMP 2.10
Code.google.com

EDIT: The newest GIMP Versions can open DDS images by default. Note DXT1, DXT3 and DXT5 compressions are lossy - I can only recommend one of them if we are saving a complex images.
