Raising the Bar: Salvation

Mod review may contain spoilers

Gameplay-wise, I really enjoyed this neat little spinoff! Nailed down all the basics as usual, such as exquisite level design and super initiative combat. It was definitely a lot more difficult compared to RTB:R and just other mods in general given how you're restricted to one weapon, a rather slow kick attack and a bomb. You really have to conserve your ammo and not get hit as much as possible which is hard to do with a bunch of Fast Zombies. It's a different take on the typical HL2 combat style and I really enjoyed it for that.

The survival-horror genre this mod had was very different than standard HL2 in a good way. The Zombies genuinely had me scared at times and there were a lot of instances where I was like "**** run away" because there were so damn many.

I also really appreciate how it gave a lot more Grigori lore and made him a lot more understandable and relatable as a character. I like how RTB:R as a whole doesn't really leave behind side-characters once the player completes their quest with them, and actually goes out of their way to give them a whole background with their own lore, respectively.

No major complaints, aside from it definitely being a little tricky at times, and definitely takes a bit of exploring to figure out to do, but again, prob a skill issue lol. 9/10 would play again

Raising the Bar: Redux

Early access mod review

This mod has exceeded my expectations in every way. The different take in art style, the beautiful mapping, lighting, particles, etc are all the cherry on top when it comes to how such a fantastic unique new story combined with highly immersive combat and dialogue this mod contains. It truly lives up to its main goal, "Experience Half-life 2 like never before" and I truly cannot wait for more divisions to come. 10/10 would play again.

Mod review

I love this mod. The idea of remaking cut content to be used in an already-existing base Half-Life 2 is genius to me and in my opinion a much better idea than blatantly "recreating the beta storyline" only for the mod to be canceled like a year later. Using cut content to mod around with in the base game has always been a dream of mine, and thanks to this wonderful mod, I am finally able to do so. Thank you, MilkywayM16!
