The fourth demo has been released! It's time to relive HDTF in Goldsrc once again!
The second demo has been released, up until meeting with Adam.
The very first demo of HDTF Classic -Act One- has been released!
To get a weapon, type give weapon_357 in the console.
The fourth demo of the mod. It covers up until the train station part.
The third demo for HDTF Classic. Expanded old maps and added three additional maps.
Even as a joke, it is unplayable. The level design and gameplay structure is atrocious, the only thing that is currently well done is the animations and code work.
If you want your mod to be better than the original, at least avoid softlocks and test your levels, it's just painful to play.
At this point, the mod is worse than the original in almost everything.
better than the real HDTF! excited for act 2!
Good to hear from you!
how to add it? because my half life starting like nothing change, please help me to install it
It's like usual HL mod installation. Copy the hdtfc folder into your Half-Life folder and restart Steam. It should appear in your game library.
The demo is pretty good, and kind of unexpected, I thought it was just a simply conversion, but is a lot better than the original
better than bad hunt down the refund
I underestimated this mod. I thought this was a troll mod at first and just another jab at the mess that was Hunt Down The Freeman. Turns out it was truly a demake of the base game, yet with far better gameplay value.
I will give the demo a try.
Absolutely loved the fourth demo!
I have some suggestions for the maps though. An specific thing i would change is maybe make the Adam being able to open doors mechanic a bit clearer, like giving him a line that says something like "Hey, i can open these".
Also some lights and sounds as guidance would be great, sometimes the player might get lost of where they are supposed to go. Flares could work great
Examples: Finding the knife in BMRF or the button in the Tutorial parkour
If the squad members will be used more often, i would recommend adding a hud that indicates your squad members like in HL2 or Field Intensity
Some ambient sounds could add a lot to the ambient, here's some suggestions for them
BMRF: Computer sounds and ambient, maybe utilize the ones in HL1
Hospital: Could work great with some scary and mysterious ambience, maybe groans or screams behind locked doors. And in that part where the roof is destroyed, distant gunshots and battle sounds like the ones in the HL2 Streetwars. Also one or two soldier corpses there could tell the player a lot of what's currently going on.
Albuquerque and Train station: Gunshots and battle sounds like they were teased in the hospital.
Sewers: Moving water and drips.
I loved the demo but the lack of ambient sounds felt weird because of how silent the place was. I like the direction the mod is taking and i'm looking foward to see the next releases. Amazing work!
Thank you for the suggestions! We will try to improve things for the next demo.
