Amnesia The Dark Descent Enhanced Vanilla Textures Patch 1
Patch 1 commentAdded a couple billboard textures that I missed and fixed the rope texture. Nothing big.
After 3 weeks of grinding away, editing texture after texture, I've finally finished my first ever mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent, like the title says this gives the game enhanced textures, most have been up-scaled 2x, but some smaller textures have been up-scaled 4x and 8x their original size. Don't worry I just haven't up-scaled the textured and called it a day, I've also manually edited each one. I've sharpened, smoothed out, boosted saturation, decreased saturation, reduced noise, painted over (rarely), and used some effects to make the textures nice and smooth, while still keeping that old Amnesia charm. I really hope you enjoy and leave a comment letting me know what you think and how I could improve this. <3

Q: Will this affect performance? A: Depending on your computer, if it's new and can run amnesia smoothly at high settings, than this will have almost no effect on performance.
Q: Everything looks the same, how can I tell if I installed it correctly? A: Either look at the game logos when you boot up the game, if they match the ones on the mod db page, than you've installed it correctly. Or just press your face against a wall in-game. if you see blurred pixels and squares, it's not installed, if you see rather smooth textures even when you press your face against the walls, than you installed it correctly.
Q: What is your favorite color(s)? A: Red and blue.
Q: Will this affect custom stories? A: If they (Like most custom stories) use Amnesia: The Dark Descent textures, than yes it will affect custom stories, by giving them smooth textures :>
Q: You know there's a better mod called Amnesia: Remastered out that is much better right? A: I know and I saw it after I had already spent 2 weeks making this mod, I was a little heart broken knowing there's already a mod out that is much better than mine but oh well. I hope people still enjoy using this.

It's subtle and that is good, but you saturated the shadow's red thing too much. It would be great if you could change this. And thank for all the work!!!
I really like your work. Some of the changes are subtle, but others are much more obvious. I particularly love the more detailed floor - very nicely done! Sure some changes are missing (such as windows you can see through) but you have kept the original feel of the game by only changing textures, and it doesn't lag on my system. I'll be keeping this mod - thank you!
Thank you, for your comment! I'm glad to hear feedback for once, I'll probably make some a new mod sometime, maybe individual things. Like Enemy reskins, completely new hud. Stuff like that. Hopefully in the future I'll learn how to make models and animations. I dunno. Anyways thanks for commenting!
Great idea - have a look at the feedback for the mod 'Improved Lantern' - only a small change but very well received. Also, I discovered that my system was not powerful enough to have all the changes you implemented without some lagging issues, especially when loading other mods. So I've kept all your floor changes (these are really fantastic and make a huge difference to the game), anything re outdoors, and the carpets. I've tried pushing to include all furniture as well, but it's a step too far. Anyway, thanks again for your work.

It will affect custom stories that use amnesia the dark descent textures, so basically almost every custom story :P
