There is a solution against the gamespy shutdown. You can play all the mods online and the server will be back.
You need at first the basic game BF 1942 –> 1.61 Patch (only if you have the release 2002 edition) –> Online Patch 161b (Anthology) –> Origin Players: Team-simple.org or for CD Players Team-simple.org or for Origin Players: Team-simple.org (thats for find back the server in your Gamespy Browser, fix your widescreen, and give compatibility to Win 7/8 Users) –> go in the bf1942 folder and overwrite the old bf1942.exe with the new one –> right click on the Desktop BF 1942.exe –> Properties –> compatibility –> set start as Win 1998 (v) and as Admin (v) –> click ok thats it you are back again online!
guys i am a member of this mod if you get a vote screen when playing download the version bf1942 v1.6 or 1.61 because it happens to me when i play pirates mod so if you want to get the other version of this after the 0.7 we release the desert combat extended 0.9 download it and get you bug fix download it on internet you need Desert combat 0.7 to play the desert combat exdended 0.9 !!! :)

i can't play at all it wont load any maps!!!!
You need to install 1.6 Patch and then install 1.61 patch.
how do you install patches?
I like this mod but, everytime that I play it the map vote heading gets in the way of my gameplay. How do I turn it off?
Mmm, if it´s appear in the screen when you are playing... Check your patch files, check the comment of "Japhet!@#".
