TimeWarp City Demo v1.0
---------------------------
Thanks for downloading the TimeWarp demo! I hope you'll like it!
This is a standalone Xash-powered HL1 mod, which means you don't need Half-Life
to run it, simply extract the zip file somewhere in your PC, and run tw.exe!
---------------------------
[GAMEPLAY]
TimeWarp plays pretty much the same as regular Half-Life does,
however there's a couple of changes which you should get accustomed to.
[JAY]
Jay makes an appearance in this demo, in the form of an ally which you can
summon at any time, anywhere using the "Summon Jay" key (default "G"),
in case you need some assistance with enemy encounters.
You can also recall her by pressing "Recall Jay" (default "H"),
which in addition to teleporting her out of the map, it also regenerates her health
which you can see on your HUD next to your own health and armor.
When Jay's health depletes, she'll explode and you won't be able to summon
her again until her health is fully recharged.
[ARMOR SYSTEM]
The mod has a new armor system based on individual armor pieces which
also give the player a bonus effect.
Your HUD displays a silhouette which shows which armor pieces you have
and how damaged they are. The bonus effects are based on how much health
the armor pieces have. So for example if you have full gloves, your reloads will be
twice as fast, but the lower the piece's health goes the slower your reloading will get,
until it reaches back to your regular reloading speed when you run out of gloves.
The armor bar next to your health bar shows the general amount of armor you have.
HELMET
Gives 15 armor points when picked up.
Bonus effect - Reduces view punch when shot, and headshot damage.
VEST
Gives 25 armor points when picked up.
Bonus effect - Adds additional damage reduction.
GLOVES
Gives 5 armor points when picked up.
Bonus effect - Speeds up weapon reloading.
BOOTS
Gives 5 armor points when picked up.
Bonus effect - Reduces fall damage.

[THE STORY SO FAR]
The year is 2096. Advanced Engineering Corporation (AEC) facilities
have been on the forefront of groundbreaking technology
and human experimentation.
The mastermind of the experiments - "The Doc", has been developing
a technology people could only dream of until now - a time machine.
The Doc's planning to use the time travel technology to travel to the future,
and bring things from the future to the present. It is believed that 50 years from
now a discovery will be made that will change mankind forever - the key to eternal life.
The Doc wants to bring eternal life to the present, and make himself the most powerful
person who's ever lived.
One of The Doc's scientists - Dr. Hoff, believes that commiting such actions will lead
to the destruction of mankind, and has gone rogue. To avoid getting himself killed,
he has hatched a plan to stop The Doc, and shut down the whole facility.
He has reprogrammed J-727 Mark II (Jay), the facility's mainframe AI computer -
to become hostile to The Doc, and free all human experimentation patients.
One of them being Patient #84, who was selected for time travel experimentation a few weeks back.
In exchange for freedom, he must help with the plan.
The time machine prototype can only go to the past, but with the power of several Time Crystals,
one can go to the future, so to stop The Doc, Patient #84 must travel to the past and collect
the Time Crystals before The Doc's enforcers do.
Days later, you and Jay have managed to collect almost every Time Crystal, with the exception of one -
hidden deep in modern-day Welport City, you have to go through a mercenary infested district.
---------------------------
[ADDITIONAL NOTES]
An .FGD file is included with the mod, which
lets you make your own maps for the mod if you really want to.
It should work with the latest version of J.A.C.K.
It's Time to Warp!!!!
Rather, it is Time to Split!
mmhm alright
Nice
HOLY **** IT'S HERE!
This and Field Intensity are the only games on Gold Source or Source that have ever actually made me want to use the followers and the fact that she a robot with extra bodies gets rid of my weird guilt over accidentally killing them.
thanks! glad i succeeded with making jay actually useful
heck yeah
WE MAKING IT OUT OF THE CITY WITH THIS ONE🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
NICE !!!! i'm testing it right now ^^
Just finished it. This game is one of the most unique stuffs I played recently, this art-style is unmatched. I'm not sure how you did those "shiny" surfaces but it looks awesome! I didn't encounter any bugs or errors, the combat was fun, the side-kick mechanic is great and very easy to use. The grenaders were quite annoying (perhaps in a good way) (btw nice introduction of them) and combat in general seemed tough (I've played on the 2nd difficulty), but I died only about 2-3 times throughout the demo. You still can press some levers through walls/windows so maybe it's a good idea to place them away on some other wall. The last map just before the boss and the boss arena itself had some fps drops and I had around 60-70 fps (which is somewhat low for my PC) so maybe a bit more could be improved in map optimization department. Other than that, it's all great and I can't wait to see the rest. Also "War: releases never" y u do dis 2 me :'(
...and "that damn fox" reference haha
glad you liked it! the shiny surfaces are a recently added feature of magic nipples' xash build, it's really cool
i'll see what i can do about the whole pressing buttons through walls thing cause that's kinda annoying lol
and also, blame one of my friends for that WAR poster :D
I again like again this again mod again and again will again probably again download again and again play again it again.
i just finished in extreme difficulty and DAMN It's So Awesome ^^ so far the only bug i encountered was a double Jay in the first level in the cinematique intro, i loved Jay the side-kick she is so fun to play with i had 60 FPS constant it was perfect ^^ keep up the good Work and good luck ^^
thanks, and congrats for beating it on extreme lmao
We makin it out of the ModDB comment section with this one ‼️🗣️
Excellent demo! Much better than the first one, which was already decent. I got my hands on the twin Uzis and I love it! I raged a bit at some platforming puzzles and encounters with grenadiers, but that is kind of my fault, as I chose to take on the demo on Extreme.
One problem I noticed is that vent covers tend to explode when I hit them with the melee weapon, causing me to take damage. At first, I thought it was because they were booby-trapped, but later on, they kept causing AOE damage. I had to shoot them with firearms in order to break them open from afar to avoid taking damage.
Also, is it normal if Jay's mouth does not move when she talks?
glad you liked the demo! the vent covers exploding is a trap on extreme mode, i didn't expect people to play it for the first time on that difficulty and i don't recommend anyone else do it lol, and jay's mouth isn't supposed to move - instead her eyes glow when she talks
Ah! Well then, I have nothing bad to say. Perfect demo!
I played it on Extreme because I assumed it was essentially the same as Half-Life's Hard mode. Exploding vent covers aside, it was quite manageable actually, thanks in large part to Jay. I love her already!
I have tried replaying the demo and I was honestly disappointed that it lacks some of Extreme's enemy spawns. I was expecting Hardened to be the same as Extreme, only with quick saves enabled and without the explosive vent covers.
extreme was a difficulty i added for myself to spice things up because i found the levels too easy after playing them about hundreds of times lol, it wasn't really meant for the average player, let alone a first time playthrough
Funny how it ended up feeling like the optimal difficulty setting to me, then! :P
Walkthrough:
I really enjoying everything this demo has to offer, but I'm very bothered by the camera shake that happens when you get shot. I just don't like the fact that your aim gets thrown completely off the enemy, personally. Hoping for more updates in the future!
glad you liked the demo! and yeah, many people thought the viewpunch was too extreme so i'll tone it down in a patch :)
Fantastic mod, but ther we- *killed by grenader*
It reminds me of the The Last Exterminator demo. Very, very enjoyable
Interesting mod
Has anyone been able to get this working in Linux? I've tried normal wine, proton, proton experimental through Steam, all of them just crash after the "Cambreaker Presents" logo with no error or terminal message.
I had to play it in a virtual machine :(
Other than that though, incredible game, the feedback for everything you do just feels awesome, especially the limb-based damage. And I love Jay and her clanky footsteps.
i'm glad you liked it! the demos don't run on linux since i don't have a linux machine to test the game on, but i'll see if i can get that figured out for the full release. :)
Thank you so much!
