Version 2.2 of Tsardoms has now been released. This version fixes a host of bugs and crashes plus adds several new historical events, new characters, traits, ancillaries, new campaign map models for Italians but also improves the gameplay experience.
We are proud to announce the next version of Tsardoms Total War. This version is not savegame compatible and will require a brand new mod installation.
Installation
- Download the mod
- Unpack the mod in the Mods folder of your Medieval 2 Total War folder using the installer. PLEASE ENSURE YOU UNPACK IN THE MODS FOLDER NOT THE MAIN MEDIEVAL 2 FOLDER
- Steam installation: follow the same instructions as above, than go into Steam right click on the Medieval 2 Kingdoms game, go to Properties, then go to Set Launch Options and replace what is there with the following --features.mod=mods/Tsardoms-2.2
Basically for Steam the actual name of the Tsardoms folder and executable file must be there
Patch Notes
Note: This is NOT the 1448 campaign. This is a new version of the regular 1345 campaign
Here is a small summary:
- Yes/No options at the start of the campaign which gives the player the choice to deactivate the Garrison Script (no more stacks spawning when a settlement is besieged) and the Rise of the Ottomans Script (no more Ottoman stacks spawning in Balkans)
- Excommunications reduced by reducing various penalties
- Crusades removed, the Crusade mechanic is broken and the AI called too many of them. The human player can still call crusades using priests
- new campaign map settlement models for the Italian factions Facebook.com
- new settlement in Crimea, Theodoro. Previously, the Danube and the sea were two different provinces. We have now merged these into a single province and got a spare spot which was allocated to Crimea
- fixed crashes related to Ottoman spawn armies in the Balkans
- new and resized UI images for the ancillaries (thanks to MIKE GOLF's tireless work) Facebook.com
- fixed the colour of the walls for the Constantinople campaign map model to match better with the historical reality (already in previous hotfix) Facebook.com
- Ottoman Empire boost - the Sipahi units are no longer restricted, the Piyade are 2 quality levels better and we've improved the starting Ottoman military infrastructure
- reduced or removed garrison scripts in Anatolia to allow for the Ottoman Empire to expand quicker and easier
- tweaked the Rise of the Ottomans script, more Ottoman armies will appear at various historical dates but these are conditioned based on their previous conquests
- change to the famous Condottieri events script in Italy, the AI now gets the famous condottieri (like John Hawkwood) if the player is not one of the factions affected by the event
- new ancillary characters for Wallachia (Hieromonk Agaton, Master Builder Manole, Filotei the Hymnologist, Hegumen Sofronie, Dobromir the Gramatic) Facebook.com
- new ancillaries for Hungary (Comes Bissenorum, Iudex Cumanorum, Capitaneus Generalis, Black Army Commander etc.)
- adjusted triggers for various traits and ancilliaries
- restricted roads to gravel road, removed last 2 levels in order to reduce trade income
- fixed several crashes and CTDs
- campaign balance improvements
- lots and lots of other improvements, the mod is overall more stable and more enjoyable

I've noticed a minor bug: some units, like german mercenaries don't talk when selected on the battlemap
edit. I've found over 50 such units and counting, so I will just fix it and post the file
edit2. There were actually 124. I fixed this and posted on Twcenter

The mod just opens in a small window in top left corner of the screen, what do I need in the cfg to open it properly?
Make sure you have the battle resolution the same as the campaign resolution and that you have windowed=0
Here is an example:
borderless_window = 1
windowed = 0
antialiasing = 0
battle_resolution = 1920 1080
campaign_resolution = 1920 1080
movies = 0 # set to zero to stop intro movies
show_banners = 1

the game crashes for me every time i try to load a saved game..i played croatia only three turns, won siege for bihać and lost for knin, then i saved and quit. later this day i try to load the game it just crashes with an error stating smh like: dunno what happened the game crashed.
how to fix this?

How are you launching the mod? are you launching via steam or via the bat file?

That's the problem. Launching via bat can cause corruption of savegames. Please launch from steam as instructed in the installation guide to avoid this issue.

I don't know as i only use steam.
If you rename one of your mod campaigns that can be launched with the mtw2 launcher to something else temporary, you can rename the mod you want to play as one of those mods. Then when you run that campaign mod, it will run the mod you have downloaded. Does that make sense?

Dumb question, but is the 2 handed glitch fixed in Tsardoms? I am getting conflicting info on whether it was fixed in kingdoms, but I hear that most mods fixed it. Did tsardoms?
Not really sure what this glitch is. But there should not be major glitches. I would suggest trying out the mod to double check.
It launches with --features.mod=mods/Tsardoms-2.2, due to text wrapping some players may miss this.

How launch the mod if I haven't the steam version
we generally don't support non-steam. you can launch from the mod folder via tsardoms.bat but i know in steam versions this could cause the saves to be corrupted
If you guys suffer too much with the instraction on steam version then alternative option is to simply rename one of the dlc game folders to anything and then rename tsardoms folder to that.
For example:
-Rename teutonic folder to random.
-After that rename tsardoms folder to teutonic.
-In steam if you start the teutonic game tsardoms will be launched instead.

That's sad. Progression feels good, removing it is blegh.
Love this mod, but that sort of thing always makes me sad.
Edit: it's still a great mod though, and the road tiers are easy to re-enable if someone actually wants to.

Just add "all," to it like in the previous levels. Either that or just add the factions you want which can build those levels in previous versions.

I extract your mod in MODS folder and when i try to run it,says that i dont have kingdoms exe....but i have it,whats the problem ?

Dude see my comment bellow. Same thing popped when I launched it from .bat file. Try doing as I did and launch from Steam.
Guys I solved my issue. I did all described above but I could only launch vanilla game. So friend told me this: duplicate medieval2.exe and rename it to Kingdoms.exe and leaving it at the main Medieval 2 folder where it is created. Then launch via Steam. When launched via .bat file in Tsardoms2.2 folder it crashes. This is the greatest and most glorious Medieval 2 mod ever created!!! Thank you guys for making it. :()
Hey I love the mod, but the vanilla M2TW screen shows instead of the Church Picture that the mod's menu in previous versions comes with is that part of this version.
nope. Nothing was changed to the menus or images. it is exactly the same
why do the greeks look like they come from sri lanka. sick of this brownwashing of greeks. funny how the art you use for notable characters shows their white skin tone but you went out of your way to make every greek general very dark
no idea what you are talking about. we just use standard medieval 2 models, all characters have the same skin colour except the turk and mongol ones. the greek heads are the same heads used for factions such as ragusa, croatia, bosnia, hospitallers etc.
I am curious, do you have any plan for Tunisia? It's (kind of) on the map...
nope, we removed the Tunisian province. and we don't have any more faction slots either. next version we will replace shadow serbia with Poland. so we are focusing a bit more on the north-eastern part of the map.
