this has an intense The beginner's guide vibe. it's nostalgic. very good mod 9/10
this gives me vibes of the beginners
guide.
OK, I'm going to give some honest critique right now.
I love this mod, I really do. But the fact that it's been written in a way to make it seem like a Beginner's Guide parody kind of destroys the charm in some of these maps. I admit, there are some maps created by Max that are largely inspired by TBG, (The chaos button, the prisons, and the concrete people) and that's fine. A lot of my maps are inspired by TBG as well. However, the narrator describes those maps as using weird and original concepts even though they obviously copied another game's art style. And the thing that disappoints me the most is that some of Max's maps are quite interesting and original, and sure they might be inspired by TBG but not to the point where it becomes cheap. But Matthew describes them the same way as he did with his other maps, which loses the charm and personality in them. Some prime examples of maps that I think are original and don't completely rip off The Beginner's Guide are An Arbitrary Thought and Chairs and Lamps. If Matthew stated at the beginning that some of these maps are heavily inspired by TBG so I'm going to present this story like TBG, rather than later. I might have accepted this mod a lot better. But, if you just compiled these maps together, and uploaded them out of context. I would certainly pay attention to the maps more, rather than the cheap narration. Overall, this gets like a 6.9/10.
I have to agree with you: i hate my narration. I feel like my points are BS. Plus, i hate my voice, i don't sound natural at all. It would have ended up better if i had made this mod nowadays.
This mod is supposed to be a "TBG" but with my friend's maps. The intention wasn't to copy the game just to copy the game and steal its merit. The intention was to recreate my friend's favorite game by using his own maps and adding some narrations explaining what i feel when i play his creations. The purpose of this mod is basically to be a gift and a big thank you to my friend for introducing me in the map mapking universe.
I perfectly agree with you and i thank you a lot for your comment.
You can still play Max's maps on his workshop if you want to avoid my ****** analyses lol
PS : However, i wouldn't call it a parody. a parody has humor and a lot of self-mockery in it. it isn't the case.
Oh Wow! I didn't realize you'd respond to my comment. Thanks!
I'm not trying to say I don't like your voice. Your voice is fine, there's nothing wrong with it. I'm just saying that the points that you are trying to make reflect that of TBG which makes them meaningless and destroys the point of Max's maps. Honestly, if you narrated it in a slightly different way and left a disclaimer at the beginning saying that this was a sort of tribute to TBG then I would have enjoyed this mod a lot more.
I agree. I spent the whole time thinking, "Okay, this is obviously an homage to TBG, but where's the twist that makes it distinct?" and when it never came, I felt let down. Knowing from the start that it was actually nonfiction (so to speak) would have made it much more interesting.
AdudenamedKemp, I absolutely agree with you.
But you know, making a twist ending would have been too much a plagiarism... I think.
I dont know, I don't care about this mod anymore lol. I'll do better next time.
I agree! unfortunately it's too late. i'll do better for the next mod, for sure!
I like this a lot.
thank you <3
