LibreCoop 1.2 is finally here!

For those who don't know LibreCoop yet, it is an Open Source coop mod for Dhewm3, and if you ask "why yet another coop mod if we have already some?" then the answer it's simple: Because this one it's the only one who is totally Open Source and GPLv3 Licensed, and also who works with the dhewm 3 source port.

Download LibreCoop for Linux 64 bits (Compiled with Ubuntu 18.04)

What about other OS?: Compile for your favorite OS with the source code of Alpha 1.2!

Features of LibreCoop Alpha 1.2:

  • Cinematics partially working (some bugs to be fixed yet)
  • PDAs
  • Runs the whole Doom 3 campaign
  • Works with ROE too (librecoopd3xp, not tested enough though)
  • Survival Game Mode (where you can play with a limited ammount of lives)
  • Coop Game Mode (Infinite ammount of lives)
  • Improved IDTech 4 netcode a bit to help players with high ping.
  • Fast Monsters option (False by default), monsters are 50% faster and projectiles are 25% faster too.
  • Damage Factor option (default 1.0, g_damageFactor): used to make monsters do even more damage for a real challenge.
  • Open Source!!
  • Easy to make it compatible with custom maps, since LibreCoop barely uses custom scripts and .def, it is really easy to port custom maps with custom enemies to work with LibreCoop. (Actually all custom maps that work for OpenCoop should work with LibreCoop)
  • Uses the original OpenCoop 2.0 alpha + 2.1 patch maps to ensure a better coop experience while playing the original Doom 3 and ROE campaign.
  • Works with Dhewm3 1.5.0 and Dhewm3 1.5.1RC2 (recommended to use 1.5.1RC2)

Gameplay video:

Of course this is an Alpha release yet, and we expect some bugs to be found and fixed, so I'll be happy to read some comments related about bugs or problems to fix, this is an Open Source project so anyone can help and that's the idea.

Thank you!

After playing through the main campaign with a friend, I'm having issues getting RoE to work.
The script files in librecoop3xp have commands the engine doesn't recognize, and so the game throws you an error the moment you load. I tried commenting them out to see if the game would boot up, but turns out that you need to do that to every map file that has a script. It seems like there's something missing...

I've been using this to play with some friends and we have been encountering a rather strange bug. For some reason, all sentry bots treat one of my friends as an enemy, and ONLY him. Even if he starts a co-op game by himself, the sentry bots immediately attack him. I have no idea what could be triggering this issue, and don't know of a good workaround other than running past these sentry bots, telling my friend to stay behind, or just using noclip.

My guess is that he's somehow set himself to be on the same team as the demons. Try having him set his player model as a different colour.

Are you referring to the player skin? That doesn't seem to have any effect, and the ability to switch teams in the menu is disabled.

The blue team is the team of monsters so the red team should always be used. ui_team "Red"...
red team is 0 and blue team is 1 and (sentry bot) team is always 0...

Is there a way to add the chainsaw or other weapons, when running a server? If we just load into the map we stopped at last time, the game doesn't give back the chainsaw even though we already had it. the "give" command doesn't work by default, is there a way to enable it somehow?

EDIT: the PDA is also glitched. Since the game doesn't give me the default player PDA, the first PDA I pick up will be handled as if it were the player's personal PDA, meaning I can't listen to any of the audio recordings because it shows me the player's PDA screen instead. This could also be fixed by adding the player's PDA at the start of the level.

Librecoop it supports up to four or eight players, but it is easy to change it limit to 16...

si_maxplayers 16

1). I don't think the gameplay would be smooth. if there are more than eight players

2). It should have a very powerful computer and network connection that it would be a beast...
