I believe what you are talking about is the LOD (level of detail) distance. You can adust the distance the game renders objects and vegetation at by modifying the settings in the VideoDefault.con file.
Ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\VideoDefault.con

The first issue you encounter is a known bug in BF Vietnam and as far as I am aware I don't know a fix available for it. Surprisingly, BF1942 does not have this issue so maybe it could be something that I can figure out and fix. For your issue with higher resolutions, I'm not sure why things should be very narrow. I play in a 16x9 aspect ratio and everything looks normal to me. If I can think of a solution ill let you know.

Basically it changes the server browser list to use the new OpenSpy one rather than the older Q-tracker one and has all of the Team SiMPLE patches as well. I debugged the application to unlock some in game commands you would only be able to use with the debugger (which I can’t even find online anymore). I haven’t been able to get all commands to work but I got some of them working. It’s also worth mentioning that the application is patched to use 255 max bots in coop mode and I have provided a game.rfa file that sets the max amount of bots to that.
There’s some more info the readme file when you download it. I’m thinking of putting that info on Moddb to make it more clear.
Looking at your specifications, I would assume that your graphics card is hindering your performance. With 2GB of video memory running at DDR3 speeds that will slow down your performance significantly. The mod needs to load 4k textures which will eat up your video memory a lot.

Hey Mat5, the only options I know of are using a Virtual Machine to emulate Windows or using an emulator like Wine. I wish I knew more about this subject but I don’t own a Mac, so google would be a great tool to look into those options. Hope you come to a solution!

The purpose of this mod is to add realistic textures and some effects to BF1942, not to change the physics of the game and make it more realistic like Forgotten Hope. If ScureHD wanted to mix his mod with Forgotten Hope he would need to get permission to do it as well. If you want you can just add the textures from this mod to Forgotten Hope yourself.
If you have BF1942 installed correctly with all of the updates and FHSW is installed correctly all you need to do is go to the website linked down below and download the tool to edit your hosts file or edit your hosts file manually. Hope this helps

Hey AgfaNova, I sent you a private message with details on how to try out the mod. We have pushed back the release date to the beginning of 2021 due to the current world events. However, we plan to release a public beta version in a few weeks. The beta might have bugs but the final version released next year will hopefully be completely free of bugs.
Not a very relevant comment but can you guys believe Battlefield 1942 turned 18 years old today? It’s amazing!
I have an old Toshiba laptop with a Core i5-480 from 2010. It also has integrated graphics but can not start the game. I tried everything but had no luck. I came to the conclusion that the internal graphics had no 3D video support and that is why the game did not run. If your friend has an older core i3 it might not have 3D graphics which means it wont be able to run the game. Hope this helps.

I can't wait to play it. I just built a new PC with my friend that doesn't just have Intel HD Graphics 4600 like my 2013 Dell Inspiron 2350 lol. The Dell still can run BF1942 at like 300fps though and BF2 at 60 but I'm glad I have an actual gaming PC now so I can record videos in better quality without my game being slower when recording.
