Played the older Rising Sun from an upload on the steam workshop, I thought it was a blast despite many of the bugs, the music was great, and I loved destroying the enemies with the OP rolling block rifle. It was good fortune that I found this was updated when attempting to look up a perhaps more up to date version of the mod.
From playing it, although it feels much more stable and certainly more bug free, I feel as though it's DNA is much closer to Gekokujo then the previous version of the mod. For me I see this in two things specifically, although I've no doubt there's much much more. I feel it in the music and the lack of snow. I thought the music was great in the previous version, so much so I copy and pasted the music and music file into the current version. Frankly, not sure if it's even working 100% as intended, but I hope in any updates to Rising Sun II we see a return to the old music.
Speaking of return, I for one liked the snow everywhere from the previous version. I saw some people complaining about it, and I know it probably doesn't rightly make sense having it year around, but it was a cool aesthetic that I enjoyed, and felt it more rightly distinguished itself from Gekokujo.
In the future, I hope we see a bit more uniqueness from the companions, I don't think we got any renames even from the original mod this is based off of, but it's not too big a deal considering they serve their purpose from a gameplay perspective. But yeah, I think this new version is great, although I do miss the pinpoint accuracy on the rolling block I had in the previous version, gotta take what you can get out here shooting on horseback.
