This mission is completely and obviously impossible. Even if I make a beeline for the Majestic and start dumping missiles into the first gunship I see - completely ignoring the squadrons of Tie Advanced consistently launching upwards of 4 missiles at a time at me - , the Majestic simply evaporates within ~2 minutes of the mission launching and insta-fails the mission. Highly recommend that this mission be reworked so that either the player is not tasked with protecting a large, unshielded, utterly inert target from entire squadrons of highly resilient and well-armed ships or else provide the player with more than 3 largely toothless support ships to ease the burden. The gunships in particular feel unfair - the Advanced are lethal and evasive but can at least be felled quickly with a decisive strike. Each gunship appears to be durable enough to withstand at least six missiles - assuming you can even get them through its defensive fire. When you factor in the combination of the constant missile fire being directed at the player and the fact that the gunships will likely be slicing up the Majestic even while taking missile file, killing even a single gunship requires time the mission flatly does not give us.


I have largely adored most of the reimagined campaign, but this mission is, put bluntly, stupid.

Hello,

This was not intentional. Unfortunately this mission became bugged as of 1.1 due to an unforeseen consequence of another bug fix which affected AI behaviour. The Decimator gunships in this mission went from very low AI skill to almost maximum AI skill which makes the mission unwinnable currently. We have posted a quick fix for this mission in our Discord server under the quick-fixes channel which will be included in the 1.2 patch when we release that.

The problem is that Zaarin starts in gun range of the Majestic with a fleet of at least 5 star destroyers and assorted smaller capital ships, which simply then melt the Majestic in short order.

And since they can shoot down warheads at exceptional accuracy rate, even trying to use the cheats and bomb them before they can take out the Majestic is unworkable.

Even with AI levels, unless they can't hit a stationary target, its a problem. If the Majestic started out of range of Zaarin's fleet and you needed to intercept just bombers and TIE Adanved, it would be hard but doable.

That is not true DeusImperator, Zaarins capital fleet never gets in gun range of the Majestic and you are not even supposed to engage that capital fleet directly. The arrival of the SSD and its escort fleet happens approximately 2 minutes after all the defending Coruscant capitals are destroyed (the two ISDs and other support ships battling the fleet) and those are not mission critical craft. The closest the fleet comes to the Majestic is within 7-8km before they turn and run once the SSD arrives.

The main problem in v1.1 was caused by an unforseen bug in this misson which caused the Decimator gunship AI to be buffed too much causing them to melt the Majestic and anything else nearby. The two capital ships that do appear near the Majestic are friendly ones (Stalwart and Ludwick).

It was chaotic, I assumed that it was the ISDs that melted it and not the small frigates.

I am not sure if it is possible, but usually the old Tie Fighter used to make ships invulnerable for certain missions or times to make sure an event passes, maybe that is a possible fix if the Decimators are too strong even with normal ai?

Unfortunately assigning invulnerability to ships is a permanent option, I can't turn it on or off mid-mission. Fear not, the v1.2 patch will fix the issues with this mission properly. Otherwise hop on to our Discord server and grab the current fixed version from our quick-fixes channel.
