DOOM II.

With realtime path tracing.



Realtime path tracing allows shadows, reflections and global illumination without any prebaking. Everything has a shadow. Emissive maps contribute to lighting. Volumetric lighting is traced to simulate a dense atmosphere.


Mirrors reflect.


Glass refracts and reflects.



Particle-based fluid simulation for blood. It can interact with everything in a scene.




Based on GZDoom.

Note: You can switch between classic and ray traced renderers in realtime. By default bound to 'C'. Console variable is 'rt_classic', set to 0.5 to render half of the screen in classic, half of it in ray traced.


By default, Doom 2: RAY TRACED (2024) uses RTGL1 renderer. Previously, it was used in:

  • Half-Life 1: Ray Traced (2023)
  • Quake 1: Ray Traced (2022)
  • PrBoom: Ray Traced (2022)
  • Serious Sam TFE: Ray Traced (2021)

And for Doom 2, the renderer was upgraded further, adding:

  • particle-based fluid
  • NVIDIA DLSS3 Frame Generation
  • AMD FSR3 Frame Interpolation
  • HDR monitor support
  • simple height maps
  • performance tweaks

However. Doom 2: RAY TRACED is compatible with...

RTX REMIX.


To make a Doom 2: RAY TRACED build to be compatible with RTX Remix, download Remix wrapper here. And Unpack it into your Doom folder, and run 'gzdoom_REMIX.bat'.

Note: upon the very first run of RTX Remix, you will need to wait for shader compilation (it happens only once, when entering any game map, usually ~20 seconds).

All I hope is that perhaps with a bit of collaboration with Mark 4... we can get this running perfectly and seemlessly with brutal doom

Aren't the death frames for the Revenant, Mancubus, Spider Mastermind and other monsters/demons done already? Because for me they're 2d sprites. By the way, i'm
liking the new voxel pistol.
