This mod is intended to be a love letter to the first Half-Life Demo "Uplink". It is more a demo than a mod and is in no way to be understood as a full fledged mod. The main goal of this demo was to keep the assets as vanilla as possible. This mod contains no additional models, weapons, textures etc. Only a few new sentences, since the story telling (like "Uplink" and Half-Life itself) was done with the characters in it. It was made to maintain the original Half-Life feeling in 1998. Veterans should be through within 10 minutes or so (it's not big, really).

If you enjoyed it, leave a message!

Well, here it is. We did our best for this new mod (that we keep calling "demo", because it's not really a modification) and hope that you like it too.

Dr. Alan is very intense at times.

The feeling of the demo is intentionally very vanilla, adding no additional content (well, maybe some new soundfiles and sentences for the scientists). Also, if you're an old Half-Life veteran, you may be through it within like 10 to 15 minutes.

The soldiers are on the hunt for gordon

A dead body is never a good sign.

Let's hope you have as much fun as we had making it. If you like it, give it a like or leave a message!

This door in one of the maps is quite buggy and not wanting to open.

It's not a bug, it's meant to seem like the body of the barney is blocking it.

I Writed the review and repeat it there:

Phrase "old-school mod" is absolutely correct. The map geometry literally from 90s - cube is ideal figure of author. In 2000 it's maybe good mod, but we live in 2024 year, where we have HL: echoes with perfect locations. And echoes location never destroyed the (vanilla) original HL 1998 experience. I feel (myself, lol) more doom one experience, than HL. Because in original HL devs are created curved corridors.
And yep, some mistakes how hev-station size, the map change load in ventilation (yep, you are stuck), door textures mistake. Low used sound effect, or incorrect sounds (like door sfx for metal cage).

Echoes isn't the bar for HL mods. Sometimes developers take things so far that the mod doesn't feel like HL anymore, Echoes is a such mod. While it's pretty good and well made, it feels more like a HL2 mod instead.

I would prefer something like Absolute Redemption to Echoes anyday. Not because "old is good, new is bad" nostalgia mentality but because mods like Absolute Redemption feel much more like a continuation of HL, more of the game I love, than Echoes. This is one of those too, it's not polished but scratches the same itch.

I mean about room logic. In original HL we are have small count of entities and small count of enemies, because 1998's hardware limitation. And Valve to come up with ways to show the room living as using fewer elements.

For example - I speak about your cafetery hall and original cafetery hall from HL. In your cafetery stairs for second floor for how purpose?
For what purpose your map have close box helicopter pad with cargo containers?

Absolute Redemption luna-park is my favorite part, - it's looks like real subject in HL universe.

But look at mod image gallery - image 7 or 12 - what'spurpose this place in Black mesa research facility? And why at image 16 the chain push across closed hatch?

Many cafeterias have multiple floors to accommodate more people in a single room. The helipad with cargo is even easier to explain, heavy-lift helicopters can bring and take equipment from Black Mesa, many of which stored in containers.

Images 7-12 show buildings that are similar to ones we explore in HL in Surface Tension chapter, just out in the distance this time. I don't see anything unfitting here either.

I already talked about the image 16 antenna that clips through the closed doors. It's a mistake, not a room logic issue. If you press the launch button before opening those doors, it will clip through, a simple oversight.

You are showing an image of the freezer entrance, not the cafeteria. This is how HL's cafeteria looks like:

Literally three tables.

You keep calling it "your mod, your maps" for some reason. I'm not the creator of this mappack.

Second, I already talked about how I disliked the outdoors sections and criticized the flat mountains in my review. So what more do you want?
