ReLite is a bare-bones, no-limits fork of Relighting. It has the following:

  • Baked texture lights
  • Bias sector lighting
  • Colored sector lighting based on flat and sky textures
  • Dynamic colored lights attached to textures (must load with texture brightmaps mod)
  • Directional light and shadow
  • Regex engine parses text lumps
  • Reads and analyzes PNG brightmaps
  • Dynamic sprite shadows (optional blurry shadows / shadows for Voxel Doom must be created using included Python script)
  • Quake-style camera panning and stats at the end of each level

The mechanics of shadow generation are similar to Relighting with the exception that light sources are also attached to textures with dynamic lights.

Blurry sprite shadows (these work with Voxel Doom and many model assets) are created using a Python script that does all the work and adds them to this mod. (Really, it's easy and takes a few seconds)

Requires GZDoom 4.10+

Whats the difference between this and Relighting? Which one is higher-end and looks better?

Relite can shadows for 3d objects. Relighting can't.

Relite loads longer in most cases, in some it's faster FPS than relighting.

At least on an Snapdragon 888+

Hard to say. Relite places lights based on reading brightmaps and applies color based on reading flats & textures. The way light is dispersed and baked is improved (also includes directional lighting), and performance is better than Relighting. There are no limits on size or shape of sectors or sprites; all this is universally applied to a map.

Oh interesting, I didn't know Relite was from the same author from Relighting, I though it was a 3rd party modification.
For what situations do you recommend me using Relite over Relighting?

I just finished a WAD with Relighting 4.X and it was a great experience, sometimes I like more how the older version 3.X looked a bit more crunchy, but 4.X has been pretty great so far.

Relite has a new lighting scheme and significant performance improvements. It does work best with a lightmaps mod. Thanks for the comments!!

Hey, could you please make patch with doom voxels? i'll be happy to see with 3d models!

Not necessary. The mod already includes a Python script to create shadows for Voxel Doom and other mods animating models with sprite frames. ZScript can't create assets, so it is necessary to add additional sprites for these shadows.

it seems to have issues when I use it with some HD texture packs and brutaldoom-v21. I really love the darker lighting style, it looks really good but all the items and stuff are glitchy

Thanks for commenting. It doesn't read HD textures yet. BD 21 already has brightmaps for textures, although I don't think that matters. What is "glitchy?" (Curious.)
